Attn!! Penny Caudill-Dog shot in Lewis co Ky

I need to get in touch with Penny Caudill, I know Wayne hunted in this area with Jim Everman and several of the older fellows around here and I believe he had dealt with this sort of problem before. I need some info on getting the ball rolling to prosecute the people that shot my friends coonhound tonight while out hunting. Any and all help would be appreciated!! Thanks Todd Tolliver

I went and got a new light today and got ready to go hunting with a friend of mine tonight but after working late he could not go so I decided to take my english male and my son's pup.I own and have permission to hunt several hundred acres(I own just 10 of them)but there is one bunch of dope headed trash has 1 acre in the middle of this land.My male dog strike and headed straight from there place and I caught my pup and drove to the end of there driveway.While standing there I heard him open up one more time and then someone came out and SHOT him and I heard him yelp a couple of times so I ran towards there house yelling.The boyfriend yelled and said,WHO IS IT,I said my name and told to come around here know and he told me to leave there pro.I came home (250 yards)and got some stuff and went back and as I was going down my drive my male dog ran to me but was shot with a SHOTGUN very scared but seems ok but with a little buck shot in him.I went back to take care of this problem and he sent his girlfriend out and he would not come out.Man enough to shoot my dog but chicken .... to come out and take his punishment.The law was called and the gun was taken when the Deputy found it hidden under a piece of metal and firewood.I will call the county attorney tomorrow and see what can be done.

DONT LET IT RIDE,PUSH IT TILL THEY PROSECUTE.........

if he hid the gun on his own property there's a good chance he may be a convicted felon.

there is nothing you can do legal unless he is not aloud a gun.the best thing i have found out is to get even in your owen way.the law would not do nothing for a man shooting my dog on my owen property and he and a freand even stold a pup but the one dog they killed scared them 4 life it was a trained protection dobie so i GOT EVEN IN MY OWEN WAY.I WILL NEVER CALL THE LAW AGAIN if they mess with my dog or yours i just became the law 4 my dog.the law dont care here in ky and neather will the ky housman ass. will do nothing eather unless this will be the first time 4 them sad but true.we need to start wat indiana started DONT SHOOT MY DOG PROGRAM

I just got home from the county att. office and pressed ANIMAL CRUELTY charges and the court date is 3-23-10.The good thing, if that's what u call it , my dog is doing ok a little sore in the rear end but he should be ready this weekend.It's a shame a man works all week to make money to support his family and do the things he and his family enjoys doing and then some dead beat that does nothing tries to take that away from you.I am very impressed with the Deputy and the County Att. with the way they are handling this so far.I would like to thank everyone who has made a comment about this and esp.TODD TOLLIVER and MIKE OPPENHEIMER for getting me headed in the right direction.Thanks everyone.

I hope this is taken care of and justice is served, it is getting to the point that a man can have unlimited acres to hunt and some crackhead that doesn't have a pot to pee in can kill your dog and rob you of something that you have spent LOTS of Time and Money on. We as houndowners need to pursue these crimes and get them taken care of legally, and then down the road catch that person out and handle things in a different manner.

Todd I totally agree we have several diff. places to hunt and it's a shame that we can't hunt this land around my house.After today's charges we may be able to without worry about losing a dog to the scum of the earth.I don't think we will have to worry about him coming out and facing anyone after the way I yelled at him last night when his old lady came to his rescue if someone talked to or about me that way right or wrong I would have came out of the house and took care of that problem or at least tried to.

that sucks !!

i had two of my dog' stolen a few years back . i called the sheriff's dept . ( putnam co . ) and filed a report . a good friend of mine noel braley that owned stylish reno is a kanawha co . deputy and owned a dog supply shop in sissonville wv called me one day and said that he over heard a couple of punks in his store bragging about stealing some guys dog's in putnam county . he got to taking to them casually and found out were they lived and called another deputy , they went out and sure enough there were my dog's , got a WRITTEN CONFESSION , got my dog's back an turned it over to putnam county sheriff's department . its been almost 2 yars and they won't do nothing to prosecute them , i call and they tell me they have no time for dog poblem's they got more important stuff to deal with , a few more phone calls then the next is gonna be a lawyer calling them ! they tell me to file a civil suit would be the best thing to do , how do you sue a peice of crap hat has no money ? i got my dog's back in poar health and one died about 2 months later . so good luck getting anything done , hope your problem' get resolved better than mine have .

Thanks everyone he is doing fine now.The point of filing charges was hopfully they will have to serve some jail time but if they just fine them they problemly won't pay being they don't work but I really don't know how that works when u are fined for something like that.Monday I'am going to call the Humane Soc. and see if they can add anything to this.I'am sorry to hear about your dog's being stolen but glad u got them back even though 1 died it died at home and not with that trash.

i guess you were wrong, being in law enforcement over 20 years i can tell you this it all depends in how you approach people as to how much they will helr you, i can read into your post and see there may be a little attitude problem

The lady that owns the place told me that she has a coon problem and I told her that I have seen coon eating out of her trash bin at end of her driveway and by the end of the con. she said that they throw all of their scraps and trash OUT THE BACK DOOR.When my dog opened up he was a good 250 yards around the hill from the house where there is several Beech den trees so the coon was probably leaving the the den and going to the scraps to eat.I thought a little COMMON sense would have cured this problem.

i asure you i dont have a attitude problem.the 2 men that killed one of my dogs and stold a pup .he was the procuters wifes brother so now you see why they would not do nothing.I DID AND I AM PROUD OF WAT I DID, when a man losses a finger and the other losses a ear off the side of his head i think that will break a thife dont you.but i had nothing to do with it even thoe they thought i did.they told law enforcement the man had a skie mask on and did not talk just dun wat he was there to do i guess.i dont like people that still and never will .now i have a VERRY GOOD CERVALICE CAMERA SYSTEM UP ALL OVER THIS PLACE and the moniter recorder is in a safe that not 20 men can get in to get the tape out.if i ever have somthing stolen from my place i know just who to invite to take fishing. i can get along with aney person that dont still and have plenty freands and i am kind hearted but if some one still from me or you they better hope i dont find out or i will get reveng one way or the other and i am a verry pecifull person ,i am verry out spoken but would not you rather have that from some one .i know i would

I want to apologize for not getting back with you that morning. You see...you called me during my school day and I can't accept phone calls during the days...it goes to voice mail. By the time I got your message at the end of the day, I knew the time had passed when you were hoping for my advice/input as you were on your way when you called me....at least that's what I believe the message said.

I'm very glad you got the info you needed. I'm not sure I could have helped you anyway. This was Wayne's area of expertise. He was the one who poured through legislation and laws and bills and such...thrived on that sort of thing. I'm afraid I would not have been able to tell you very much at all.

So glad you have the ball rolling on the Animal Cruelty charges. I hope the guy gets exactly what he deserves!
