Cheap Dog

ANY TIME SOMEBODY ASK 500$ JUST GO TO BATH ROOM AND FLUSH YOUR MONEY. A GOOD DOG COST MONEY. GOOD LUCK!!!

Posted by slobbermouth21 on 11-22-2012 08:13 PM:

I know plenty of dogs that was sold for 500 and made grand night and some titles in pkc you must not.be a good trainer and handler and looks like your full of bs to come hunt with some 500 dollar cull dogs

the best dog i ever owned was a kemmer cur jyp that cost me $75.00 at 18 mon. old. she was a get deep coon dog and squirrel dog.
many times people get rid of dog because they haven't had time to hunt them, get a divorce or new girl friend or too many dogs and no one yet knows the dogs worth.
i just got a 4 mon old english pup for $100.00. she appears to be a good dog but only time will tell.
i'm not so sure that training is so much a part of it but time n the woods is important.

Paid 500 for my dog. Have turned down 5 times that for her.

I quit hunting for 3 years. Tyler Young came by my house and said lets go hunting. He had a trade dog he had found. He treed a possum and a slick tree that night and I bought half of him for $200 that night just so I would have a hound to listen to. I put him in the top 16 in Arkansas PKC the same year. After hunting him and tuning him up, he was a independent coon treer. I got 2 dogs right now that I bought cheap that I'll hunt against ANYONE. You just have to shop around.

You could take a idk what.crossed up hound and with training and patience whoop the.fire out of a large majority of the big name dogs if a man wants to charge 1000 to 5000 for a dog that's fine with me but ill never pay that much for a dog to meny people given them away around here can't afford to feed them all

I had one give to me in 2008 in 2009 he became a UKC NITECH , PKC CH , AKC CH. and won 7 cast with him in two weeks time. In 2010 I paid $400.00 for a female that knew very little. She is the most accurate hunt I have even seen to this day now and I have been chasing coon a LONG time. She is now GRNITECH. I know good and well the good one's are not cheap but sometimes you get LUCKY .

Posted by smartin0022 on 11-23-2012 03:17 AM:

Two of the best coonhound I ever walked behind were given to ppl because they thought one was a cull, he made dual grand and pkc gold champion sired a lot of fine coonhounds as well. The other was two year old tied to a dog box never was hunted till we got him he made grand nite champion and was one of the finest hounds we have ever had the pleasure of owning. Now all that aside most dogs you see for sale cheap don't fare as well as either of these hounds did.

Posted by slobbermouth21 on 11-23-2012 03:28 AM:

If I'm taken a man's word on he has been treeing coons I always look at their toe nails ain't never seen a dog that hugs the wood have long nails but it still don't mean he is a coondog

I paid exactly $500 for someones "cull"...he had great breeding so I took the chance.

Well, after 3 years and making him a Gr. Nite Ch., I recently sold him for $15,500. Actually, I was going to ask $15,000 but I wanted to recoup my original $500 so I made it a $15,500 price tag.

Dog sold about 36 hours after advertised

I know have the next World Ch. for sale, 20 grand and he'll go fast, too! I didn't pay $500 for him, only $495 when he was an unhunted 1 yr old

Posted by HuckFinn on 11-23-2012 04:47 AM:

i once paid $50 for a walker pup with mostly pr 3-gen. Best dog i ever hunted with. Hunted her and caught coon in all kinds of weather - i mean cold; creeks frozen. If the coons were bedded down, she'd go get one up.

Posted by trapper81 on 11-23-2012 01:00 PM:

hello

There alot of good dogs on here that are less then a 1000.00 might be the best might be the worst. If not ill just like any body our thing a little bit of training and practice can make good at its job.

yep, has no idea what he's talking about, and trying to make someone think he does. i've bought dogs for 500 and less that were coondogs, and beat big $$$$$ winning dogs when i finally managed to draw them, and the trash talking stopped.

Posted by mikeponder on 11-23-2012 11:12 PM:

i paid 200 for one last year that had never been hunted at night and now she is a night champion, and i wouldnt sell her for 10 times what i gave.

Posted by Tyler Stroh on 11-24-2012 01:18 PM:

Paid $150 for a clover male about 10 years ago because the guy that had him lost patience with him. One hard summer of hunting and he turned into one of the best dogs I have ever had.

sounds like one of them guys who thinks hes gonna get a world champion caliber dog for $500........all $500 gets you is something to start with, its up to the handler to make the dog something to be proud of owning. i gave $600 for a dog about a month ago and it would take triple that to get him off my hands now.

Posted by VA BLUEDOGS on 11-27-2012 07:26 PM:

country

Well i duno whats changed in the world of coonhunting that $500 is cheap for a coon dog. Some of these $5000 dogs would last 5 minutes in the mountains of virginia. I'll stick to the cheap ones!!!

Posted by Lonnie_y2002 on 11-28-2012 01:42 AM:

My $250 dog is one win away from Grand Nite in UKC and he took me to Shreveport this year. In AKC, he is a Supreme Grand Champion Grand Nite Champion. He is currently #2 Dog in AKC for the state race in KY.

Nomatter how much you pay for a dog, you have to make it be the dog you want it to be, if it is capable of it. A free dog has just a good of a chance being a world leader as a $10000 dog.

The price you pay for a dog has nothing to do with how it will turn out. You buy a pup for $50 dollars depending on the genes and YOUR ability to train, hunt and keep him up decides the fate of the dog.

Buying a $500 dog from a reputable person may mean you can go straight to the hunts and not have to worry with training he just needs a little polishing up.

Some of forget alot of how our hounds turn out is based on US. If we buy a 10000$ hound and never go to a comp hunt is it the hounds fault? Take the same hound and only hunt him a couple times a year is he gonna perform at the top of his game? Ofcourse not some of our fellow board members need to take some responsibility on themselves for how their hounds turn out.

Another reason I see for some complaning about these 500$ dog is they buy these dogs without EVER hunting with them. If you are willing to fork out that cash wouldnt it make sense to atleast hunt one night with this hound? How many of you would buy a used car without ever driving it?

The way I see it too many folks are looking for the easy way. There is no easy way in coon hunting. If you are not willing to spend many a nights in the woods walking behind your hound then you need to find a different hobby. There is NO EASY WAY in coon hunting. Sure if you have plenty money you can go out and buy a world champ for thousands of dollars but guess what if you dont hunt him he isnt going to perform either and I guess you would be back on here posting how sorry the hound is and you just wasted several thousand dollars.

I got a fellows cull about 18 months ago. Saved him from a bullet cause i knew the dog hadnt been given a chance. Needless to say he can eat my feed and is not for sale. Trees coon nearly every drop and is fun to hunt. It dont take money to have a good hound. It just takes time, training and alot of patience.
