Tough feet

Wade-

Bring one with tough feet. I'm not sure where Wilton is located, but if there is any amount of snow on the ground, it will be tough on the feet. It is supposed to get pretty warm on Sat. so some of the snow will melt and start to freeze just before dark, making for a crust on the top that more than likely won't hold your dog up on top.

wilton

Everything in Wilton is UPHILL. And listen to cutter about randy s.

Wade, I spectated in Wilton last year and the Red Event. I was on a cast with Maitland. It is definitely hilly. Some rocky terrain. We ran a few coon that night but didn't see one on the outside till the last drop. Hard to hear when dogs get over the hills. Bring a loud dog. Probably want a well balanced hound for down there. Good nose and mouth. Good luck. Is this a PKC hunt or UKC?

ukc hunt, went hunting last night, and it was tough over a foot of snow dogs went through a 2 mile section and ended up treed in a hole. second drop reality set in cut loose down the river and there is a comercial about this i think.

1. two hounds turned loose
2. one deer run
3. own 4 shocking collars
4. not one on either hound (priceless)

not to mention the pack of yotes following rooster through the woods(you would have to hear roosters mouth to understand why to would follow him)

Sounds a lot like a hunt I had the other night. No shock collar. Lol. I might see if I can make it down that way tomorrow. Talk to you later.

i won champion of champion female on the bench against 7 other females. the hunt didn't go as well. 1st drop coon in a brush pile and the dogs pushed it out(only 2 people seen the coon and the judge wasn't one of them) 2nd drop struck and dogs messed around up and down a steep hill(man am i out of shape)got holed up on a ledge and wasted way to much time. i actually treed grace just to try and get out of there. they were ther for about 20 minutes before i treed her, she went down the hill and restruck in the next valley while the walker dog ran another side in oppsite direction andthe other were caught in a different ledge in a hole. i was 4 minute from being houred on the time out call. 3rd and final drop cut loose grace struck and 2 other joined ran about 500 yards then came back 100 and treed, a red male of rabble rouser treed 1st grace 2nd and walker female 3rd(other walker scracted after 2nd drop) had the coon. grace acually left the tree and was trying to split off.

all in all seen one coon , well me and grace are back in training maybe boone walker sectional will go better.

Jordan

No, the female you hunted with was Dixie. After I Finished her to N.T.C.H. I sold my half of her (Scott Vanden Heuvel Kept his half),
when Faith started coming on strong and needed to be singled
out. What Iv'e noticed through the years is these dogs kinda
develope in stages and need to be hunted a certain way in each
stage to bring out their full potential. Iv'e seen dogs that had it
in them to be something special and only make average dogs
because they were'nt hunted right at the right time. Some people
have a hard time reconizing this and that's why you see some
guys always hunting "good"dogs and some guys always hunting
"not so good dogs".
Dixie is a very nice dog, but Faith is more of a "competition"
type dog.

Thanks Dan.

Thanks Dan, Scott hopes to get her finished out this year. And I think she is good enough to get it done. She will be bred to Uncle Pen, when she is finished out.

WHO GOT WHAT?

WAS WONDERING WHO GOT 1ST 2ND 3RD AND WHAT THE POINTS WERE FOR THE CASTS, AND WHO SEEN COON, WHO DIDNT, HOW MANY DOGS SHOWED UP? I WANTED TO GO, BUT FIGURED I WILL WAIT TILL IT GETS BETTER WEATHER, SINCE I KNOW WHAT FEB HUNTS BRING IN WISCONSIN, DENS AND COLD TRAILS...AS MANY OF THE DETAILS AS POSSIBLE SO I KNOW WHAT I MISSED...

Posted by jda on 02-14-2005 06:39 PM:

you missed a blue dog getting first there were 31 dogs in the hunt and 39 in the show the weather was perfect

Posted by Jesse Bedward on 02-14-2005 10:09 PM:

WHAT WAS HIGH SCORE?

Posted by scott shaw on 02-14-2005 10:33 PM:

Yes Jay,

same female that I showed at Hebron, I pretty much only
show a dog if I'm hunting it in the hunts. That's two 1st place
wins on her now.

I also have to say, I was impressed with the redbones in that area. A couple of the other casts were won by redbones. My
cast were all 1 & 2 year old dogs with 2 redbones I thought
were real nice dogs especially as tough as the conditions turned
out to be. The snow and hills beat us all up pretty good, Faith
never came out of her house Sunday. I got to bed at 5a.m. and
made it up at 9:30 for church, but sat in the house the rest of
the day. I HURT ALL OVER!! From what I heard it wasn't to good
of a night for the Walkers.

Scores

Nite Ch: 325?

It only takes one.

We scored on three coon in my Nite Ch cast. Uncle Pen had one by himself. The sidewinder dog had one by himself and a walker came in to him. And they had one in the side of a bluff. The last track of the night at about 1:00 am turned into nothing and we caught the dogs. Our cast did not have the winner though.

Scott
