I sure hope it's warmer this time than it was last time.....
So much for being prepared for the unusually cool temps.....
I slept on the fair grounds, in a tent and sleeping bag.......and managed to stuff an 88 pound hound in there with me for warmth LOL !!!
Some said that's the coldest it's ever been there since they can remember......
I thought it was still a big turn out though.........I'm looking forward to January and making the trip back down to Orangeburg again...... I had an incredible time !!!

under the new format you MUST hunt both night to be able to hunt the final 4. not a big fan of that!

I know we aren't going to please everyone with whatever we do. But one of the complaints we had with the old hunt off format was that Friday nights dogs didn't hunt Saturday night and were rested for the final four round. Requiring you to hunt both nights to be eligible for the Final Four is just an attempt to make it fair to all who advance. It is not an attempt to force you to hunt both nights. If you are the high scoring dog of either night you are still going to be rewarded. If you want a shot at the Grand American title and the prize package you gotta HUNT both nights.
This year we had three double cast winners, year before there was two or three. Who knows, this coming year we may have more or less. The point is the high scoring dog would still get in as long as they hunted both nights now.

We are constantly working to make the Grand American as fair as possible to every entry. We realize our guides all try to put you in coons, but some have better hunting than others. By using this change to our final four format we feel that it levels the playing field even more.

(He has a post just above mine on this thread) He has a post on the Update for the Grand American that will help those who have never been understand some of the goings on. Not to toot too many horns, but these guys WORK HARD to make this an awesome event!!!!! TOOT, TOOT!

As long as the weather is just a tad bit warmer this year, you couldn't ask for a better time and a nicer group of folks!!
