how to stop blood from flowing

went out the other night with a friend dogs treed a den but way up high the coon was sittin on the outside shot it out to 3 dogs coon put a woopin on um the we broke it up and finished off the coon, my buddies long eared hound was pourin blood out of the tip of the ear must have hit a vien we ripped a t shirt and wraped it tight but it fell off often on the way to the truck, just wondering any tips for future cuts hopefuly none will happen but when the coon is way high its hard to get a head shot with open sights\

No joke, keep some maxi pads in your pocket and a roll of electrical tape- being its smaller than duct tape. That will get you to the truck then you can doctor it real good. I used pads alot when I hog hunted and the dogs would get cut up bad.


I forgot to add, tape the ear to the head so the dog dont sling it, and get you a pump bottle of blue lotion usally can find at tractor supply. Most cuts on a ear don't need anything other than blue lotion it's just a disinfectant.

I had an english male that stuck his big head into a whole and came out with the coon attached to his ear. Bled like a stuck pig and he kept shaking his head and busting it open...I got some of the cheap version of New skin it is in the shaving isle at local drug store. heads up 1st layer will sting some but after that they dont mind. Ears are the worst.

I always used plain old flour. It always worked real good for use, then when we got home, cleaned the wound real good and super glued it shut. Would heal up nice and good as new. If I cut a nail too close, I just put flour on it, that stops it.

it'll stop by itself. the dog won't bleed out. put "cut heal" on it when you get home to keep flies off and prevent infection.

Super glue and flour. I just had to do that about 3 weeks ago on a torn ear.

just plain old crazy glue paint it right on the wound i hav glued ears that were split quite a lenth glued the two parts together and they healed with out a scar

when you get caught short in that position take off your sock/cut the toes off the sock/fold the ear flat and pull the sock up over the dogs head/holds it tight and good press to stop bleeding. dont laugh it saved my old female one nite. and i wouldnt hesitate to do it again.

had a bluetick female get the end of her ear riped off and we put some amish stuff on it ill find out the name but it felt like vasileen but it was far from it it had alot of antibactirail stuff and it stoped the blood like one of u said it bleeds and bleeds and it looks worse that it really is thats true but ill find out the name of that stuff it workd wonders it will even help keep out dirt and stuff like that

Everybody done told you how to stop the bleeding , so I am not going there .... But what I would like to know is what happen to a sporting chance , as my old buddy Jerry use to say we give that coon a sporting chance . He could come down the tree and whop all them dogs and walk away , the choice was his ... Sounds like the coon was winning and yall took away his choice.. Lol

I use pressure to stop bleeding,dry thoroughly & super glue'um up. Our "Bum" hound has had his ear's split numerous time's & I've put'um back together each time. (don't want my coonhound gettin over looked at a show for scar tissue )

Like was said,it heel's up & you can't see a scar. You need to control the head shakin but lot's of good advice already mentioned on how to do that. Only thing I may do different is I put them in a crate. For some reason there is not any head shakin while in there but look out when ya let'um out!

Forget the first aid!!!!!!!!! Ya'all need some more target practice!!!!!
