blows out of the country
I have a dog that will get on a track and absolutely take it clear out of the county but running it slow like a coon. Wat's goon on? He does this with every track
If it is a coon he may not be putting enough pressure on it to make him climb. Just a thought!
Is he getting treed?

No he will run and run and i finally just catch him
Cold trailing deer!!!
Sounds Like hes a Track Runner .. They keep picking up another track run it then grabs another .. Could be why he sounds like working the track slower but actually just grubing up the next track ..

some kind of fast game. yote, deer, etc
Hmmm. How longs it taking him to leave the county? Nothing leaves the country cept a deer or bear. May just be barking to hear himself bark.

it takes him about 5 minutes to push a track a mile I got tired of it and shocked him last night I could see where he was running rite down the creek bank and he got waaaaay gone too fast for a coon so I lit him up and he came back.
May be just running the water. I've saw that before. Plus a mile in 5min is pretty swift. Turn him out on a deer in the daylight and see what he does.

A mile in 5 minutes is not too slow in my book, that equates to 12 miles an hour which is a slow steady run for a dog.
Personally I have never hunted a dog that would run a coon track more than 4 or 5 miles an hour measured by a Garmin. And typically those were the warmer tracks that got treed in a matter of minutes and covered a few hundred yards at most.

I had a pup off zeb3 that would do that. Once he started treeing he sold for 3500 at 18 months old. Last I saw him he was for sale for 6500.00.
Idk but I have a fifteen month old pup that has started doing something similar I'd love to know what he is running..........two months ago he lit in to treeing coons really good treed probly five or six in a row an then just all at once he opens and will Boohoo a track for half mile to a mile and usually never falls treed I chalked it up that he is opening on trash an grubbing it up til he crosses something worth that will climb. Also its taking him anywhere from an hour to an hour an a half to get to the mile but I don't believe in shocking a dog without knowing for sure they're trashing especially here where coon are so thin
His carbureter is running a little rich. Needs adjusted by a Tritronics certified technician!

the only way to know for sure what this hound is doing is to get in front of him and see what he sends your way. hunt him in the morning so you dont have to guess .....

my plott will do that. she moves so slowly i can hardly tell if she's treed or tracking. the other dogs will come back like they are bored with it. i figured she was locked onto an old track and grubbing it out.

most of these dogs I've hunted with that would get out of country and get treed do it by running deer then falling treed on a coin they run across while running the deer..

dang
if i had a dog doing all that id just shoot it and start over
probably not a bear.there arent that many bear for him to do it every night right out of the truck.plus bear arent movin much right now and if it was bear and he like runnin them that much he would eventually tree one.sounds like the dog is trashing but is slow
