Got my check...just wondering

I got my performance check today and it was $64 and change. I will take it because it will fill the tank up this weekend.

I'm wondering what kind of money some of you hardcore comp hunters and big breeders made.

Not trying to get into everyones business but want to see if its worth the money to get pups and studs paid up anymore

got a check for several hundred with the ike dog.

also got a little back on belle.

nothing to get rich off but getting a payback to have some fun and enjoy hunting is enough for me.

I ended with 180 something, got both points at a plott sectional, not hardly a professional, but it seems like all the hunts that would be good payouts dont pay out....

They post the lists of top earners in the bloodlines by points. I don't have it handy or I'd figure the top ones. Stud and dam owners do best, unless you own a long list of winning dogs in any given year.

$$$$$$

I gotta check today, I had 6.75 points on my Redbone and I think my check was for $641 and some change. It paid for alot of my travel and entry's. Defenity worth it to get a performance bred dog.

Anyone know roughly what the pay back would be to take a dog from nothing to Grand Nite?

It kind of depends, really. The Performance Points are earned based on how many dogs were hunted in your category (REG, NITE, GRAND) on that particular night. The chart of how many points you get is listed here.

So just for easy math let's just say you only got your wins at hunts where there were at least 20 dogs in your respective category. Let's also assume that you finished your dog from Registered to Grand Nite in as few hunts as possible (8) all with first-place wins in your category. The math would look something like this:

3 first place Registered wins with 20 dogs in category = 6 Performance Points (2 points per win)

5 first place Nite Champion wins with 20 dogs in category = 10 Performance Points (2 points per win)

Grand total = 16 Performance Points

16 X Point Total (115.66 for 2012 points) = 1850.56 - 370.10 (10% for breeder and 10% for sire owner) = $1480.46 for making your dog a Grand Nite Champion

Remember too you can earn Performance Points as a Grand Nite as well. For each first place Grand Nite at a hunt with over 20 Grands you would also earn 2 Performance Points to make your total even greater.

The Performance Program continues to grow and get better every year. This year we've implemented changes that make it easier to permanently nominate pups for the program and will have the added benefit of making the points worth more.

There is know way to know that. It depends on the point value, how many dogs are at each hunt, how many cast wins and weather you get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. I had a buddy get 5 2nd places. The money just keeps adding up.

I took my ike dog from nothing to grand nite in a few months last year. i payed about 700 but one of his wins was at a rqe and you arent awarded points at them so it could have been more.

your average ukc local hunt should get you around a point at minimum for each win in the registered class. the key is to get 1st places not 2nds and 3rds because unless there are several casts 2nd and 3rd wont give you back much.

Every year the checks come out and guys are always wishing the were bigger.

The beauty of the PP is that MANY of us are paid out, with a MINIMUM of input cost.

If this program isnt stiff enough for you there is always the SS.....but the cost to play is substantally higher and only a very few collect a big payday.

Realistically, somewhere around 4-6 points is what you can expect for going from nothing to GrNt., imo. Looking at the top 10 B&T's, the points range from 3.25 to 6.1 for the year. Hitting a hunt here or there that has more entries can turn out better but getting a win at a RQE, minislam or youth hunt will hurt you.

I finished a dog to GrNt last fall and here is what she got:

Reg. 1st: .7 point
Reg. 1st: .7 point
Reg. 1st: 1.6 points

NtCh 1: .9 points
NtCh 2: .3 points
NtCh 3: .4 points
NtCh 4: 1st place at an RQE, 43 dogs, NO POINTS
NtCh 5: 1st place at a Mini Slam, 11 dogs, NO POINTS

Total: 4.6 points. These points were earned in 2 separate years. 2 of her 3 best wins got her no points at all.

Just an example.....

I'm not sure if I will pay the current dog I have up. I missed the 6 month deadline, (no performance paper work) thinking no big deal I'll just pay the 50 before a year. I see now its gone to 100. I've made money on the program so far in other dogs but i'll be making less if this pup makes it. I guess I'll wait and see when it gets close to a year old.

$180 for 4 NtCh wins on my dog. One of those wins was 1st place at an RQE and another win was a 1st place at a Minislam. ZERO points for those 2 wins.

I also got paid for 9 pups I produced that earned points that resulted in me having the #1 female for the B&T breed for 2012.

A little better than nuthin', I guess.
