feist being recognized as coon dog
a lot people have been saying feists should be a recognized coon dog that you can hunt in ukc night hunts yes or no

I would say they can in a cur&feist coon hunt, curs can't hunt in hound hunts either.

Curs aren't unless they just were recently put in. Leopard curs were recently given hound status.

I don't think they should be able to hunt in the hound cast.
i dont see anything wrong hunting a fiest in a coon hunt
I think all the hounds, curs, and feists ought to be able to be put in the same squirrel and coon hunts. Throw them in together, let the best one win.

This subjest has been beat to death and bottom line is how many would go and hunt in the hunts against a hound and answer to that is probably none. Heck most of you don't even hunt in the Cur & Feist hunts

I would hunt with the hounds! I do pleasure hunting anyways so it wouldnt be any different. Our club starting next year hopefully are going to add the cur and fiest cast at our regular hunts so anybody that can come we would be glad to have ya!

I honestly think that the people that dont want them to hunt in competitions are scared that their big named dogs will get beat by a real coondog. I say let them hunt, and when they do ill bring my cur to cast with yalls actual hounds (:

I hunt Treeing Curs, Hounds and cur crossed. More cur than hound in the dogs i have. Yes i do have a Gr nite walker hound but I have never crossed him onto curs or feist. But I have hunted against hounds with success with my curs. Don't know about the feist and how they would do. never owned one.

and as far as the crossbreeding. I all for trying new things and i believe that crossbred dogs should be allowed to hunt in the UKC hound events. And what i mean by crossbred is that is must have one coonhound parent. But i also think that to be a treeing cur it should have both parents from tree dog line. cur/hound, cur/feist, hound/feist etc.

They can hunt against hounds and that is what they are saying that is what they want. Probably more chin music than anything else or they would.

Bottom line is no one is hunting against hounds in PKC so that really shows no interest. These same men don't hunt in the Cur Fest events. If they can't compete on that level they sure as heck can't compete on the hound level. I am sure UKC doesn't really see any real interest on the part of the Cur & Feist people to make that venture only a little complaining. The Cur & Feist people haven't earned the right to compete in the hound events. Look at the amount of people that enter their hounds in the world hunt. Autum Oaks, Winter Classic to name a few. The Cur & Feist people don't even hunt in their own World Hunt.

But they can't hunt against hounds in UKC, I think is the problem they are referring to. For example if I had a cur dog ready to hunt against hounds around here in PKC, there would only be 10 or 12 a year close enough to drive to. If UKC would open up the hound events to include curs and feists, I could hunt in 30 or 40 a year, that were close enough to drive to.

Loyd I see you hunt and promote the black mouth cur and seem to do a good job with it but sounds like your bashing everything anybody has to say about competing with the hounds? Theirs not but a few people around here that hunt a cur dog so we hunt with hounds all the time and from what I have hunted the hounds nor the curs will get the best of one another a hundred percent of the time. I have a good time hunting with the hounds and have people ask me to go hunting because they have never been in the woods with a cur dog. As far as the fiest as hounds go I think thats alittle far fetched but I dont rule out the idea of the cur dogs competing with the hounds at all. I havent ever been to a pkc hunt but I will get to one and read up on the rules..and our club is hopefully going to add the cur and fiest cast next year to try and promote a few more people to hunt them in the ukc events wheather it be in the coon hunt or the squirrel hunt.
