problem getting papers

I am not going to call any names but my question is if you bought a dog from some one that said they would mail you the papers in the mail and after a couple of weeks you still havent got your papers and you call the person back and they give you the run around how would you adress this

I am just looking for some advice on how to handel this I have not bought many pups and have never ran into this kind of thing and was just wondering if any of you have and what would be the best way to handel it , I only gave 200 for the pup but she was kinda thin but now I have her fat and pretty I thought about asking for my money back if they didnt get me the papers but now I have more money tied up in the pup ,,, any suggestions

Sorry, I don't have a good answer for you. But I can't imagine why anyone would not want you to have those papers if the deal was honest and straight. What could anyone possibly gain by doing this?

Not sure I bought the dog on the story that it was sold to a kid and after talking to the guy some after buying the dog I found out that that was not the deal so now I am thinking she was probaly a cull, but I have also been told that alot of guys have had problems getting papers from this guy, I was also told to report it to ukc and that they would bar the guy I dont want to do that I just want the papers but I called ukc to see where I stand and they said they dont get involved in anything like this

lol I guess I just bought a $200 lesson but they say the best lessons are the bought ones lol I guess if I cant laugh at it ill just get mad and that aint no way to spend such a nice day lol

I had this very thing happen to me one time. I never did get the papers. Never.

so why dont you post the guys name on here and where he is from so others dont get took the same way.

Because I am going to at least give him to the end of the week to make things right but if he dont then I will but I belive everyone at least needs the chance to make something right if he dont then I will know it was no mistake and I cant be accused of trying to smear a mans name he will have done that on his own

I don't know what kind of a run around he gave you but possibly he did not have the cash on hand to order the papers untill you paid him and he might be waiting on the papers. He should have told you when you bought the pup if that was going to be the case.

I paid him in cash the day I bought the pup and he said he would send the papers off the following morning been three weeks now and UKC has not recived any paper work from him

but I think what I am going to do is go on about my bussiness if I dont get the papers , hey I was honest and did the right thing and it might be along time but sooner or later it will come back to bite him in his azz

They are having problems I rushed my papers on a litter took 6 weeks to get.I had to send papers to people that bought pups some were calling alot so I called ukc they told me they had not got them yet but they cashed my check I called 2 more days then they told me they were proscessd and sent that morng so give a little time it might not be his doing.

That sucks and it sounds like the papers were a part of the deal. It sounds like you want the papers but he is a pup so it's not like you are fixing to enter him in a hunt next week. I might go back to him and sit on his porch with him and help him fill out the paperwork and ask him to give you the puppapers registration money back and you use your creditcard number, its faster liike that (assuming he does not use credit cards, I don't either). If he has spent the money, just pay it, it's bad business but you want the papers. And talk about spending some extra money , while I was down at his place I would spend some extra and get some DNA Swabs on the parents for your satisfaction that the papers are real when you ever do get them back.

This very thing happened to a friend of my. 4 months went by and gave the guy every chance. Bottom line is you have to file small claims against him if anything to get your money back. On the papers your could be out. My buddy went threw the breeder to make a long story short he ended up wth the papers but currently has a small claims against the guy. Ukc told him once a judgement from the court is awarded to him that they would go threw with barring the guy that sold him the dog. Ukc also told him the reason they won't barr anyone till there's a legal judgement that this stuff goes on but how do they know who's telling the truth so with a judgement they can find out who was in the right. If you need more info PM me i'll give ya my friends number and you can get the info from him what he was advised to do. I'd give the guy a chance ill it's clear your not getting them.

You talkin puppy papers, or permanent papers? I've had to wait a while on puppy papers before, but eventually got them.

my experiences with UKC have been great...registered a litter and permanently registered pups we kept...everything always came back pretty dang quick...had papers on hand before we could legally sell the pups...


just sounds like a "shady" deal IMO...i wouldnt offer a dog for sale till i had its papers to go with it...

i aint trying to get smart mouth with ya, but you said the guy was putting the papers in the mail the next day, why wasnt you able to get the papers when you bought the pup? i hope you get your papers.

I went to his house at night after I got off work and I have bought a few dogs from him before and every time he would always mail me the papers and I would get them with in a week but this time the story he told me when I bought the dog and what he is telling me now dont match up he confessed up to not even sending the papers in like he said he had he does not even have the papers the guy he sold the dog to as a pup still has them, I mean I understand things happen but it would have been better to have just laid it out the night I bought the dog and told me the truth about the deal rather than lie to me , and yes the story I got the night I bought her was that she had permanent UKC and PKC papers now the story is she has puppy papers , but like I said I have learned that the best lessons are the ones earned and I will never buy another dog until I am holding the papers in hand , this pup is not ready to hunt in any hunts yet but she is ready to bench show and I cant because of no papers , but thanks for all the advice

Puppy papers

I don't understand why breeders don't have their puppy pappers ready to go by the tim the pups are ready. As soon as my pups are born I get a head count and mail them usually no later then the 3rd day after birth they are in mail. If guys would refuse to pick up their pups until the papers were in order maybe these so called breeders would be more sufficent. I bout a puppy one time from a well known breeder. 6 mounths later still no papers. I called the guy and he wanted to know what female they were out of. I had no clue he only had nearly 100 hounds and puppies when I went to pick the pup up. I did get the papers but were they from the right female? I had to explain to guy where the pups were at to the best of knowledge. Dog pappers are like car titles they should both leave together! Maybe this seperates the real breeders from the pup factories

well i guess im a puppy factory

In 5 years I've had 3 litters I mail in for puppy papers after 2 nd week every time making sure I only reg pups that are going to survive then I always rush which is a extra 15 dollars they are suppose to be processed in 1 week it not the breeders fault they take 4-6 weeks and the people that call what to come look at pups and then want to take it home.I know exactly when pups were born,time with in a hour,female they were born out of,stud,ukc # of both.

lyle, not sending the papers in a while makes a lot of sense...we did give it a few days...we lost the runt the day after it was born..i was "in charge" of the paper work...so i already had it all filled out...i changed it and waited atleast a few days to send them off..


i do the same when permanently registering a dog...i wait till its gunna cost me more money to make sure im keeping it and it dont get ran over in the drive way etc...
