went to a pkc hunt young dog looked stupid. came home and hunted. made 9 trees, 8 with coon(13 total seen), 1 slick.

i dont know what he was thinking in the hunt but we had a talk at the last tree. maybe it helped...

Treed two last night. First one was a hard running boar, my Buck Creek gyp took him through the country and had him. Second dump was a short race through some water, it went up quick, left it in the tree. Was home by 8:45. It was cold and ground was mostly hard frozen here in North Central WV

Just got in & got all my junk put-up & charging. "Getting De's ready for the month of February & the Winter Classic," Night One.

Hunted my Spring 1yr old off Tequila Sunrise, ole "Crazy-De" from about 8:30pm to 2am. A couple good races, more than a couple bad tracks, but for each of the 9 turn-outs, 9 tracks were struck, all 9 tracks, whether cold-trailed or ran, was worked lined-out & moved without a bobble or a lose, listened to 9 nearly perfect locates, and when I got to his 9 trees; {6} of them had coons sitting on the outside in plain sight, even for blind n' grumpy competition hunters! {1} tree held-up a BIG nest hiding a lil'-bitty, wormy-lookin' coon, who wasn't too happy with me for jerking his comfy bed slap-outta it's tree! {1} was a den but after sum tooting on my trusty Zepp's, it turned-out ole' Ricky WAS at home after-all! {1} ole tree, well, bad as I hated it, was a big 'un! Haven't seen a hollow tree with a hole at the bottom big enough for me to stand-up inside of it, in a long time. I shined & squalled & beat, but either Ricky wasn't there, or he was snuggled-up in the very top of that big Ole' tree, warm & laughin' his butt off at the thought of me out there beatin' that dang tree with a stick & freezin' to death.

Carried De home, & swapped him for my other Spring 1yr old off Skuna River Bark I call "Style," and we managed to make 4 trees at the end of 1 good track & 3 BAAAAADDDD cold ones, before I hollered, "CALF ROPE!" Style had 3 ricky's on the outside, & 1 of the dreaded Slick Trees! ;-(

Not bad for 2 sorry ole slick-treeing walker dogs, with pedigrees made-up of a buncha dogs that won all their casts with least minus & circle trees...

Been the last 5 nights, treed 11, and had 4 dens. The first 3 nights were great chilly but not cold, the last 2 have been cold.
