Fatal Error!!

Do you peope get the fatal error message alot here lately on this machine?? The site has been running extra slow and about half the time fatal error shows up before the page , even with high speed conections...

I think what the problem is way to many of us cant hunt becasue of the bitter cold weather and we are all on here over loading this site...

I feel like we are all out on a limb trying to shake out a coon and one more person is make it all crash down!!!

Seems to always bog down late afternoon and evenings when a guy can't get out and hunt. It is worst when I try to view new topics. If I go to each forum individually, it runs just fast enough to avoid the 'the fatal error'. lol

i do the same thing i knew it was not my computer because the other sites load the same as always nice and fast i think UKC has a problem with there server i wish they would get it fixed the more people on here the slower it loads

It's awful! A few nights in a row I've fallen asleep here on the sofa... with the laptop... waiting...with my highspeed internet... stiff neck... sore back... late to take my meds... THinking how it would stink for those of you who have dial up!....

Assuming at some point UKC will update their server.

i'm still getting used to the high speed roadrunner after haveing dialup ..

yes they finnally run a cable out here in the boonies,,lol,,love it dont know how we got along without it,,lol

you can help speed your computer up by keeping it cleaned up ,dump cookies,etc once in awhile.

i use a program called iclean,cleans everything with 1 click

Here is what I've noticed.

I have Internet explorer 6.0, Firefox 3.0, Opera 9, Safari, and Google Chrome web browsers installed on my computer.

When this site gets really slow, it's nearly always when I'm using IE 6. I can fire up another browser, and the site smokes!

For those of you using Internet Explorer...try a new, faster, free browser! You will be surprised at how fast the internet goes without all of Microsoft's "junk in the trunk".....

Do a search for Google Chrome, or Firefox.

It's not what browser version your running that causes it..........it's the server memory and resources.

It's the server's settings concerning max_connections and max_user_connections as well as the memory on the server.

At some point, ther server can not handle the amount of connections and thus why the forum slows down, errors, and such.

The mysql and server has limits....once those limits are reached, then the problems begin.

UKC runs a Windows based server..........I have a Linux based server so the settings may be diiferent for Windows based server but the problem is the same and what causes it.

I AM SO JEALOUS !! WE STILL CAN'T GET HIGH SPEED ANYTHING !! DIAL UP OR BIG RIVER.NET, THAT'S OUR CHOICES...LOL...I WOULD DO WITHOUT IF I HAD TO GO WITH BIG RIVER !! I have firefox, but don't use it much. Got on here from that browser and it does work faster. I didn't say fast, but I went through the 14 pages of new posts and didn't get one fatal error. Thanks

You might need to defragment your computer. I just removed Firefox because it was slowing down EVERYTHING. But I just have dial-up - can't get DSL here and Hughes Net would be $299 to sign up and then $54 a month! Louisiana is trying to get some sort of fast net mandate that would also benefit the East Texas area. Hope they succeed.
Also, AVG has FREE antivirus software that can help to speed up your computer ( just becareful to download the REAL AVG as there are others the APPEAR to be the same company) - I paid a computer tech $100 to get my cumputer "cleaned up" & he said NEVER open or download emails you receive that offer antivirus programs. He installed the free AVG & said the program, along with Microsoft programs should be sufficient. But he repeated - DO NOT DOWNLOAD any programs that offer to speed up or clean your computer.
