We killed one that has a very light gray mask on its face, and very light gray rings on its tail. I'm glad it had those, otherwise it would have been illegal to kill in the state of Illinois, and also illegal to have it stuffed. You might want to check the IN state regulations. It may be a good idea to get rid of the coon and all traces of you ever having it. In IL they can take your hunting license, seize your vehicle, and all other sorts of bad things if you kill an all white animal of any kind.

It is a neat looking coon though. Glad you got to see one.

I've seen only one true albino..An older farmer caught it in his coon trap..It had pink eyes and pink nose and all...He gave it to my buddy..Turned it out and its never been seen again!

I killed an albino a few times, but it had black eyes instead of red...and a black nose too...grey fur, black feet, black rings on it's tail, and a jet black mask.

Hmmm, now that I put it in writing...maybe mine was just a regular coon.

Best thing to do if you're dogs kill on accidentally is to leave the spot for the night and don't go back for a week. Coyotes will have the thing eaten in a matter of hours in IL, figure its about the same in WI. If it happens, just make sure you don't bring it home. We thought ours was an opossum. It was in the very tip-top of the tree, that should have been a clue. Good thing (like I said) that it had a light gray mask and rings. Buddy of mine had it stuffed. It had red eyes, though.

How many on here have ever seen a white squirrel? They aren't albino, they are a type of gray squirrel from Germany. If you look up Olney, IL it is the city of white squirrels. They had a bunch imported years & years ago. A lot of them have migrated to Flora, IL (25 miles). They are neat looking, and breed with the regular grays. They do have white eyes, though. They are also illegal to kill in IL. Law says "all-white" that doesn't necessarily mean albino.

here in indiana it is legal to kill a albino. i killed one 15 years ago it weigh 25 pounds.

I dont understand why it's illegal to kill an albino...is that an actual law? Albinos cant reproduce from what I've heard...so it's not like keeping them around will create more. If I tree one it's coming down and to the taxidermist lol.

albinos can reproduce only have bad eyesight i saw quite a few captive bred albino coon they were a mating of an albino to a normal that had an albino parent in northern new york there is cinnamon and blond coon, i'm in western ny and have a few all black coon treed a whole liter a month ago.
as far as albino squirrels i have seen a whole liter of whie squirels with a gray mother quie a few ywaes ago now here are many in that area there are pure black squirrels on top of the mountin where i hunt.

the law that prevents shooting of pure white animals in some states comes from indian folk law the indians believed that pure whie animals were sacred as they believed they were there dead ansestors that came back as white animals

It is not illegal to kill albino's in wisconsin.
The only albino that is protected in Wis. are deer. Coon are legal, I had a fellow at work bring one in about three years ago that they killed and had stuffed and on a night hunt a few years ago we treed one. Talk about have trouble giving the dog plus points for a white animal in the tree. It is a good thing we could all see it very well.

We had a albino turkey on our farm two years ago so i called the DNR and they told me the only thing that was protected in Wis are DEER.

My father just donated an albino coon he got during season and had mounted several years back to Salamoine....and nobody has ever said anything about it being illegal to him. Asked DNR and they said you can take albino coon and deer in Indiana.

We treed one in a PKC hunt one night about a year ago. I thought it was a possum till Oak Ridge noticed it was an albino coon. That coon ended up winning the cast for my dog.

We treed what I assume was the same coon in the same woods again last week. It was inside a den tree both times.

white with dark eyes are not albino albinos always have light blue or pink eyes if it has normal eyes it's just a whie coon.
rome airforce base has a herd of true albino deer last time i saw this herd there were at leas 40 deer i looked down a fire cut and couldn't believe how many i saw

i shot 1 out back in 1991.I did not have a gun with me but when we got to the tree and thought the dogs had treed a possum,I sent a young man back to fetch the gun.We did not realize it was a coon until it hit the ground.It was a true albino,the only one I've seen.Yes they can reproduce.This was a pregnant sow ready to deliver.Feeling really bad about killing a pregnant sow much less an albino,I pulled out my knife and performed surgery removing 3 kittens.All 3 were normal looking,not albino.My buddy took 2 home with him and they did not live till morning.My wife raised the other one for about 6 wks.It was doing really good on esbilac,puppy milk replacer but then we changed to milk from the frig. and he died after a couple feedings.I dont know if it stopped him up or what.
