I had hernia surgery on tuesday of last week. Trust me you won't be going hunting for a week or 2. I couldn't hardly get out of bed for 3 days and needed help doing it. I'm just starting to get back to normal and still have a little pain down there. The worst part is the 5 inch cut!! I had a Inaugral double hernia. Good luck

you are sadly missed !!!!!!
they want you to walk all you can... what better way than coon hunting....mine wasnt a hernia but colon cancer.... got out of hospitial on a friday and went hunting sunday night and missed 3 nights the next 120 days.... dont jerk no vines or jump and ditches is what doc told me when i ask him if i could hunt.... my dogs would heel out so didnt have to worry about them snatching on me
from the different responses it seems like it all depends on the person. some were ok in a couple days and some it took weeks.

It depends more on where the hernias are.
Inguinal and Femoral hernias are repaired through the same type incision. They will have similar pain etc. The rest are different.
You are right, everyone is different to an extent, but many on here are comparing apples to oranges because they are completely different surgeries.
In any case it is very, very important to keep the wound clean and dry and absolutely do not lift/pull/tug on anything.
Hunting would be out for a week or so because your reaction to falling would be to grab/pull on something. Also climbing up or down steep banks you pull and tug more than you think not to mention dogs pulling on you. That would risk damaging your repair.
Walking is great.

Keep moving , but don't do anything foolish.
I'd go walking , but not hunting for a few weeks.
All it will take is 1 good fall.
Oxygen is what's gonna heal ya. And to get that , you gotta get the blood flowin'. And to do that , you gotta walk. Just don't overdo it or you'll be sorry ! LOL
