NBPPA Sectional Results from Maryland

First of all I'd like to state, Performance Pack Events are growing by leaps and bounds in this area of the country. At every event we are seeing new faces. Interest by many has found it's way to the PP trials. Alot of out-of-town participation from New York , PA and WV attended
This was the first PP trial held by the Sugarloaf Mountain Beagle Club in Knoxville, Md. What a hunt they had. Get this, we hunted 28 dogs on Saturday and showed 2.
Sunday we hunted 27 dogs and showed 6. That's 55 dogs sent to the field in 2 days. Excellent job by all, from the guides to the judges. Barney Turner manned the kitchen and what a fine job he performed. Breakfast was fantastic, lunch??? let's just say Barney flips a great burger. The club house at their new location is perfect for these type of events. Plenty of parking, lots of shade for dogs to be tied out and a large covered pavillon besides a club house.
On behalf of the Sugarloaf Mountain Beagle Club, we would like too thank everyone that attended. Thank You to al the guides. And a special THANK YOU to all the Judges, without you these events would never happen.

Champion Winner - Cedar Grove's Briarpatch Holly - 9/18/11

Grand Champion and Best Of Breed - Dusty Roads Hillbilly Ace High

If we had a junior handler award this young man would have won hands down. Mikey Tobery Jr. remember this young mans name, he's already taking names and kicking butts!!!!!!!! really, he handles his own dogs in both PP and HB events and wins. GREAT JOB little Mikey!!!!!!!
If I have forgotten anyone I'm sorry, call me and I'll make the corrections

Made it Home Safe

Barney Turner and the Sugar Loaf Mountain Beagle Club, I Thank You Very Much for supporting the NBPPA and for hosting such a nice event. Thanks also to Mr. Steve Shipman, Mr. Glenn Landry, for assisting with the clerical side of things. Also I want to PERSONALLY thank our friends and fellow NBPPA folks from Buffalo, NY, Rick and Frank nice to see ya guys and I really pray & hope you guys make it home safely as well. Barney Thank You for the Prayer of Travelling Mercies for my wife and I as well as the hospitality and invitation back to run again. I drew some fine folks today and I don't know this young man's name but he is going to be leaving for Afghanistan soon and I wish him well and I'll be praying for him. We had some guides that went out of their way to try and find us rabbits, some successful and some not so successful as it is in many areas this time of year. Jeff, Mike, Micah, and a couple other men in club THANK for your efforts.

The facility and location is a very nice place to host a PP event , thanks for choosing the NBPPA to be a part of it.

Thanks for the photos Steve! Hey glad to see all the Eastern PA guys & of Course April D. also, hope you made home safe as well.

I like to personally THANK my dogs judges Joel Fletcher and Seth Shipman for judging in unfamiliar terrain and giving the effort that they did. I too thank the other judges as well for stepping upand covering a couple of us that were travelling long distances home.

ONCE AGAIN A HUGE THANK YOU TO SUGAR LOAF MOUNTAIN GANG,
Not only does BARNEY flipa mean burger and throw out a nice breakfast at you he makes a super pot of COFFEE as well,

Respectfully,
Fred Hawkins
West Virginia NBPPA State Delegate

PS- What an HONOR it was to see and meet Mr. Byron (BARNEY) Turner. We had an awesome talk this morning about the beginning times of UKC Beagling and some other awesome folks who helped to get UKC beagling up and running. Barney thanks again for folks like you who love this sport so much, this exhibits why you were an avid part of UKC Beagling in the beginning!!!!!!!

My computer has been down, but I had to make a late post to thank all for a great time.. 9hours of driving was soon forgotten by a warm welcome and seeing good friends at the club house. This was the first time I have met barney in person. He is a great host, true houndsman, and loves our sport! Telling stories with him, was my trial highlight!

I urge all beaglers to check out Sugarloaf future events.. Its worth your time to go there. We will be back soon Barney! ( dont know if thats good or bad?)

Franky Jitters, also sends his thanks to all!

Ricky G

Rick I had a great time talking with you and please come back we enjoyed your visit.

Was it the hound placement that gave Frank the jitters? lol

Posted by smokes creek on 09-27-2011 06:12 PM:

no, just his genetic make up... He is like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs! But we r working on changing his meds!! lol.. We are both looking forward to coming back! Thanks again Barney!
