Who Else Hunted Tonight?

I loaded Pride and Hobo and hit the woods tonight. I can't tell you the last time I turned them loose,my guess would be sometime in March.

Cut them loose just a little after dark. They got gone pretty fast but no strike. Watching them on the Garmin I could tell they had gone through the piece of woods I had cut them in and were going down a gas line. The followed the gas line down to one of the roads on the place and Hobo hit the road and started towards me. Pride struck pretty close to the road and went back the other way. Once Hobo heard him open he started back towards him but never did go to him,he finally came into me. Pride took the track a good distance and got treed right next to a creek. After a good hike I finally got to him and saw eyes looking back down at me.

I didn't think it was toooooooooooooooooo bad of a hunt for a Sorry Ol MUTT that hadn't been hunted in MONTHS......

Just got back in. It is still 76 degrees out there and just a georgous night We made a total of 4 drops. One slick tree, one nothing and a couple of coons. We hunted a total of 3.5 hours. It was not nearly as hot as the last time I hunted and the humidity was also quite a bit lower.

I got a three year old staked at the garden to keep the deer and coons out. I turned him loose in my loafers for some exercise and he treed two hundred feet from the stake. Liar. Then walked on to a ditch and he came and started rolling in the grass letting me know he was enjoying our walk in the woods. There was a handy limb that broke him out of his fantacy. He was then gone for fifteen minutes and I called him in a snapped him. Summertime hunting must not be for him either. I got eyes full of bugs but I have made mental note on his lack of behavior.

Hmmmmmm

Turned loose at 10:30. My female was struck in a minute, ran a nice 5 minute track and treed. She wasn't hammering it like she normally does but she located so i knew it was up there. Took me 3 minutes to find the coon, it was a little kit coon, my guess is that's why she wasn't hammering, the smell was weak.

Cut her off that tree and she was struck in two minutes, ran that track for 6 or 7 minutes and treed. Got to her and she was on a huge berry tree right along a nice creek, perfect coon tree but I could not find it.

Next went somewhere else and turned my male loose and here's where it got intresting. He struck out in the field and was right on one, I watched the garmin and he was headed right for a lane so I drove to the lane. It was getting late and he was doing a pathetic job with the track so I ran in there and busted him good.

When I got back to my truck I looked in the dog box and my female was GONE!!!!!!!! I knew what had happened, she is very small and she pushed the dog box back and got the door open and JUMPED OUT!!!!!!! I'm nervous now because I had no collar on her because I was done after that cut. Well needless to say she was treed THANK THE LORD, walked into her and the leash was still on her and she had a big ol coon treed

Got lucky! It's gota be hard for a dog to tree a coon with a leash on them lol I guess she decided she wasn't done yet.

Took Blue and Sadie tonite. Sadie, a young'un off Andy, has only been to the woods 3 times, but she really hunted well. Never made a bark but I did see her doing some trailing.

Well I made 3 drops. 1st drop dogs hunted out the hollow pretty good, but to no avail. not even a whimper. 2nd drop, Blue got struck really fast, trailed quickly across a pretty good sized hill with Sadie right with him and bam, slammed the tree. saw eyes going in but they weren't coon eyes. Dang slick tail. Let him know real quick like that was no good and went and made drop # 3. Sadie took off up the mountain while Blue worked the creek. STRIKE Blue! It sounded good. trailed up the creek, then took it up and over. Sadie is no where to be found. I drive the truck as close as i can, as he was getting out of hearing.AAAAAUUUUUGGGGHHHH, AUG, AUG, AUG. He's treed. I walk in about 200 yards, and he has a coon. All on his own. As I'm going in, Sadie comes to me, smells the coon in the creek and trails all the way to the tree. But there she was lost. Maybe next time.

5 for 5. My little female made me proud! Got a win toward grand. 4 first trees and 1 second tree. No circle, no minus. That makes her 17 out of her last 18. Not bad, I can live with it.
