Emergengy All Nc Hound Hunters Read Me!!!

To all hound hunter ...
NC state is trying to take our rights away from us again !!! District 7 will be holding a meeting at Starmount High School on Jan 15 @ 7pm. NC state has a purposed bill that they are trying to pass. The bill states that any hound/beagle hunter who dog travels on to property the you do not have permission to hunt on- you will be paying a fine for trespassing-
I don't know about you but I'm sure at one time or another you have found your dog somewhere you didn't have permission to hunt on. You can find the proposed bills for the 2009/2010 year at www.ncwildlife.org
sorry I have not learned how to post the link yet. If we don't fight for our rights now next year we won't be able to hunt at all. We hear of this kind of thing all around us and never expect it to find us ... Well here we are District 7 has nine counties in it from Stokes,Watauga,Surry,Alleghany, Yadkin,Ashe,Avery,Wilkes and if I'm not mistaken Caldwell ( not sure about the last one sorry ) If we don't fight now how far would we have to drive to coon hunt? What would happen to the coon hunt clubs? What about UKC hunts? Would people quit hunting all together? This is our sport and we have to stand up for it !!! What about the kids ?we have to keep our love of hearing the hounds in the distance sitting on the tailgate watching the sun go down. If you live in District 7 please please show up at Starmount High School on Jan.15 - Thursday 7pm 2009 and get there early because the fire marshall will be there counting heads. I plan on being there at 5:30 to make sure our voice is heard however, I cant do it alone Look at the site -www.ncwildlife.org to find out when the hearing will be in your district if you don't live in district 7 Our voice and hounds must be heard REMEMBER you must get in the building to be heard Don't just vote on the site stand up and fight for that good ol hound that rarely lets you down

jim hes talking about if your hound gets on land that they dont have the right to be on . if the owner is on the road he will get a ticket for his dog. which not right. their only one dog that can read and his name is ELVIS ATTACK. LOL

I have reveiwed the ordinances before and just did so again, I do not see the changes you mention listed. I have already sent in e-mail comments about 2 of the other changes but the change you list I am simply not seeing??? Can you look at the document and give me the ordinance number so that I can read it and make an informed decision about whether to attend my local meeting in Raleigh or Rocky Mount.
The ordinance number will either have an F or an H followed by a number.

The hearings being referenced are in regard to the "2009 Proposed Regulations and Public Hearings Schedule".

the worden wrote 3 tickets here this weekend for the same thing and it is not even the law here but the worden said it was in afect all ready.i am checking on it rite now with 3 tickets laying in front of me,the worden will get thoese tickets put where the run dont shin but i got to have some one set him strait again it happen in carter county ky and the worden told the 3 men to hunt there dogs on a lead or he would rite them up every time there dog tresspasses

dont over look our houndsmen associations because they really help us fight stuff like this and do a fine job at that..so please if your not in 1 spend a few extra bucks and join one..i belong 2 the albemarle houndsmen association they do a great job...

Stanly co we are havein the meeting thursday at 700 at SSHS we all to make it to a meeting in your area. the way its goin to be no matter what kind of dog you have. if it not your land you can get a fine.

I happen to know first hand about this law. It has already been taken into effect in Anson County. Get out your regulation books and read under specific laws by county look for Anson its in red. Here its only during the gun deer season. We have passed a bill within the county to dismiss the law which is supposed to take effect next year. Only problm is if the law becomes state wide our effors will be of nothing. Its a steep price to pay here the first time caught its 300 + court cost and the 2nd time its 500 + court cost and possibly 30 days in jail with no bond. Its really rediculous we run deer dogs and theres always a gap wher ethe dogs can get through the standers and its always the people who lease 25-50 acres when our club has 8000 surrounding them and we run dogs. I got a ticket last year was found guilty in district court appealed got a lawyer and it was through out ended costing me 200. But either way you lose.

Sorry I just got back to the house -let me clear a few things up I to have been on the wildlife site for nc state the only proposed bills w hounds are
H44 and H30. I can not find the exact bill myself. I was told by the district warden Mr. Chris Moore ( District includes Surry Co. Stokes Co. and Forsyth Co. )that I better be at that meeting unless I wanted a trespassin tickit he made it very clear that he does not like coon hunters at all!!! and if he and a couple of the commissioners got thier way in a few years we will be hunting our dog at the end of a leash---his words not mine---He told me by going to this meeting is the only way to fight for your rights and the only time to speak up against this "Proposed Bill" was to show up in January 2009 at the meeting / hearing. He was the one who told me this meeting was the only chance we have to let our voice be heard I want coon hunters there to be seen and heard. The state needs to know that we are here to stay. I am taking a pick up truck load of local folks from my club and I hope every one else does to. Remember seating is limited be there early

AHA On It

Brain I am already looking into this - We always try to have a AHA member at the meeting up here in the mountains. I am trying to get information together so that I can try to have some of our members at some of the other meetings as we have members all over the state.

We are also members of the NC Sporting Dog Alliance and I will get Clint ahold of Joe and Henry McCleese on this also.

I am trying to find an actual hard copy of the proposed changes that we are talking about. Please If you have a hard copy let me know where I can find it ..... It is not in the items to be discussed at the hearings!!!!!!

I will let you know what I find out.

Here's an update, sort of....

My local warden told me that the district hearings are to discuss proposed changes that have made it past committee. The proposed changes to be discussed at District 3 meetings (my district) will only be those that are listed, and the one mentioned above is not listed. IF any proposal outside those that have been discussed in committee are brought up it is not to be decided on but sent to the advisory committee who gets input and decides if it will be included as a proposal for next year. Not sure who Mr. Chris Moore might think he is but from those I have spoken to he is not allowed to sidestep the process. The NCCHA looks very closely at the advisory committee process every year and provides input which often helps keep negative things from ever being considered in the hearing process. If this gets added to the committee list of items for reveiw we will make a strong objection. Having said that I would not advise against attending the meeting, just in case....

Please keep us informed of anything that may occur, our meeting is not til the latter part of the month and if this becomes an issue at your meeting I would like to file a complaint, on behalf of the NCCHA, with the NCWRC for allowing it to be discussed while not being on the agenda, we cannot allow anyone especially a District Warden to sidestep the proper process.

On a side note, laws/ordinances are not only changed by the NCWRC but also at the county level. The wording of the law in Anson county is: "Unlawful to hunt on anothers land without having on the person written permission signed and dated....during the gun deer season allowing a dog under one's ownership, possession, or control to run upon or accross another's land constitutes hunting thereon" The law seems to pertain to deer dogs only, but since it affects dog hunting of any kind it is disturbing, (as a general rule the NCCHA supports ALL forms of dog hunting) often local ordinances get adopted by other counties and eventually end up becoming a statewide law...this can be a good thing, as this is the way the state law regarding unlawful removal of an electronic collar became law...but it can become a bad thing as well. If anyone knows hunters in Anson County I would suggest that they band together and create a presentation to the Anson County Commisioners and try to get this changed before other counties adopt the wording as well...if they need my assistance I'll be glad to help.

I just did some further checking to make sure before I posted any further here with some more of our officers of the AHA on this issue and the AHA went to Raleigh back in the fall an spoke before the Wildlife commission about this very issue and also the issue was brought up at our district meeting back at the fall meeting that was held in Pisgah Forest, NC.

And also as a side not - Wildlife does not pass the dog related laws they are done by legislation on a state level and locally by the counties....

Please if you are not a member of the a houndsmen association in your area PLEASE, PLEASE join one..... these are the kinds of issues that we deal with all the time and need your support to help us fight for you and your rights.

You can join the AHA by getting intouch with me here by sending me a pm or by going to our website. Individual/Family membership are availabel for $20.00. We use the funds from the membeships to work and city/county and state areas to fight for your rights.

We are also as an orgaization members of the NC Sporting Dog Alliance and they are the ones that caught wind of this back in the fall and ask us to have AHA members come to Raleigh to speak. You can also join the sporting dog as an individual member also.

The key to everything being successful is that all of these organization work together when issues like this come up.

anytime anyone hears anything on a local or state level let the AHA or the NCCHA know and we check in to it for you and help in anyway that we can.

The Local level is the starting grounds for alot of laws that end up in the state.

The Anti's believe if they get enough laws on local level it will breeze through at the state level if need be.....

I always advise people to check into how the animal ordianced in their local county is derived. Alot of County Commissioners have Advisory Committees that they rely on to help them in building an animal ordinance. I serve on the Advisory Committee in my county and it is comprised of Vet's, Breeders, Anti's and me. We have to have a voice at every level.

I talked to Clint Pace today with AHA and he said that they have looked into this and it came from a book of laws took from Georgia to this state due to deer hunters. The law was actually directed toward deer dogs and that they didnt bring it up at any meetings he has attended so they must not have adopted that particular law. He also said that the wildlife people couldnt make laws the state legislation did so anytime something caomes up thats who to call. My club supports AHA and yours should too. They have someone in Raleigh that works for us so these laws dont get passed....Thank You for all you do If anyone wants to join them Lisa has posted their link above to get in touch with them....

We had the same type of problem here in Wv in 2005, we had a fight but we got a law passed to prevent this, it's tough.

I just mailed David Gardin the info and notes along with a copy of the bill, economic impact survey, anything else we can help with from up here, give me a yell.
