What keeps you at home, too cold or too hot?
Would you rather hunt extreme heat or extreme cold?
Sitting at home tonight with temps supposed to hit 20, and thinking of those summer nights when it doesn't fall below 90. Seems like 15 years ago I'd go no matter what...
only thing that keeps me home is alot of snow..lol.. ill wait it out the dogs dont forget how to tree a coon after a week or two..lol..
either too cold or to hot I dont go. Anything above 80 at night or below 25 I wont go. Especially when it is humid
I guess its geographically dependant. Some far north hunters I know have told me about taking advantage of "warm" nights in the 20's.
They'd never consider cutting a dog when the temp was in the 90's with 80% humidity...
i went tonite single digits and windy
it was too cold /i was too hot! i was huntin , it was a good nite
iam in southern wv and its spitting a rain snow mixture so iam not getting out in it , as far as cold that really dont bother me as long as its not windy as hell , and isnt wet , i hate trying to hunt after a rain and it freezes . in the summer months in august espically i wait and go after midnight and hunt early in the morning . all in all iam out in about any conditions , cant complain a bit this winter i think ive mighteve missed a total of a week of hunting all toghther due to weather

When you've endured a week or two of sub-zero temperatures, anything in the 20's does seem "warm". Have not had to deal with it this winter (yet). You can always put on enough clothes to stay comfortable, but you can't take off enough to be comfortable when it's in the 90's, well not legally anyway.
In the 20's there's no ticks, 'skeeters or gnats to deal with, not to mention bug spray running into your eyes with the sweat that's pouring off you, even when you're just sitting on the endgate listening.
If I had to choose between the two I'd opt for the 20's, but I don't do much of either anymore. Neither one's usually very productive, so I just wait for a better night to come along.
must be old don't hunt when its to hot to cold and hate full moons lol
imo the heat worse on the dogs cold aint bad but the wind and the cold makes me scratch my head lol

4 degrees and 20 mile hr wind keeps me home.
Gets below 20. I don't like it. That's cold on these southern bones. Wind blowing like crazy I stay home. No use to cut loose if I can't hear anything. Heat don't really bother me.

Another cold one here tonight. Supposed to be teens, snow/ice tomorrow. The winter that wasn't suddenly is...
Too hot to hunt isn't relevent to Montana; it's never too hot at night. Coldest I've hunted is 7 below (no wind). If it's cold but not windy no problem. If it's cold AND windy it's not so fun because I need to keep my hat off my ears so I can hear the dog.
When it 's so hot the dogs are hassleing and I'm sweating just standing, I don't hunt. I seldom hunt in 20 mph plus wind and around here the coon lay up a couple of days when it drops into the low 20's.
Tonight it is blowing 20 plus mph and gusting in the 30's, the temperture is dropping like a rock. I'm staying home.

Both but thats just me getting older LOL
Hot or cold, chasing these dogs sure beats sitting on the couch. Tonight was in the low teens and i was just off the ohio river, built a small fire on the creek bank a listened to the dogs make a slick! LOL! I still had a great time. I work outside year round so i stay used to the weather. When i was in colorado on vacation i was complaining about the rain and the old mountain man said there was no such thing as bad weather, its just weather. The only thing i could say was that he made a good point.
Real cold, or Real Hot don't bother me. Don't like to go when it's super windy, and don't like to hunt when it's pouring the rain. But like others have mentioned it beats sittin on the couch, and the dogs aint gettin no better in the pin!!
