How old is this pup? Lots depends on how much time is left for the leg to grow on out properly. Keep up the cod liver oil and sunshine. Time will tell. Definitely seek help from a vet who has treated this before. It's called rickets.
Thanks,,pup is 9 weeks old

Lots more exercise and lots less groceries, Bones have grown faster than the tendons and ligaments. Everyone likes to see those butterball fat pups but you can kill em with kindness. Time for a trip to the vets.

i had a pup that had rickets i give it cod liver oil and it started getting better right away and by two weeks could not tell it was anything the matter with her. I also hear that sure grow 100 by trophy animal health care works good two.
take a piece of 3/4 pvc pipe ever how many inches long it takes to extend from its foot to its elbow and split about 1/3 of it off length ways and use as a splint... wrap it but be sure not to wrap tight enough to cut off the circulation and start feeding an adult dog food.... you can leave on a couple days and it will straighten right up.... i have had this happen several times feeding purina puppy chow.... pups growing to fast is what causes it
pups leg
I had this with a mt cur both front legs looked like that. I took him to the vet my vet said that my pup was growing to fast and to switch his food because the food was not right he was getting to much or not enough of somthing he needed my vet recomended Hill science Diet puppy food for large breed and with in a few weeks he was fine and grew up and is 10 years old and never had anyother problems I fed that feed for 6 monyhs I now feed all my pups hills science diet puppy food till they reach 6months old hope this will work for you like it did me.
Thanks Guys..The other pup with him ,,I have had about a week and a half..it looks like the one with the bad leg is getting more feed .. I'm going to separate them at feeding time starting tomorrow ,and keep him on the cod Liver Oil.

i sold a pup to a guy a week ago, pup was healthy had straight legs and over all great body condition... he tells me a week later its legs are deformed and showed me a picture and both of his front legs look like this... basically said it happened in 10 minutes. i seen pictures of it leading up to the day he told me and the legs of the pup are just fine.. how does this happen to a puppy in only 10 minutes??
sorry to hi-jack your post but i'm looking for some help on curing the pup i'm getting back too!

This dog is growing to fast if you are feeding it puppy food quit now, go get the cheapest least nutritious dog food you can get and feed him that, maybe even cat food. The dog is getting to much nutrition. I have had several do this as we feed very good dog/puppy food. If they do this we put them on the cheap dog food and they straighten right up you may notice when this leg heals the other will do the same thing, so stick with the cheap dog food for a while. Good luck.

I also wouldnt recommend cod liver oil. Just feed him less food and poor nutrition for a while. No vet needed he will get alright.
Sometimes less is more!

Yes tqs
Just like he said some pups cant handle the high protein in good puppy food. But definately do not feed cat food most of it is over 25% protein. when it happened to me my vet had me feed a very high quality senior dog food in a very small quantity. Senior dog food is very low in fat and protein but the higher quality food is more digestable than cheap dog food and will still give your pup the nutrition and calories that it needs. I recomend science diet senior. Not cheap but you only need to feed about a cup to a cup and a half a day. Also wont hurt to give a calcium supplement daily. Should clear in a week or less. Good luck.

Vitamin D. Lots of it. That is rickets

Maybe not
A lot times conditions like this get blamed on rickets. Rickets is very rare with modern puppy foods. Rickets is caused by a vitamin deficiency mainly vitamin d like mentioned above. If you are feeding very low quality feed then I might suspect rickets. I had the same problem and I was feeding purina one puppy food. Obviously a.pretty good food. The problem was way to much protein.

not saying it doesnt happen with other feeds but purina puppy chow is the only feed i have ever had this happen with... have had it happen several different times so i raise all my pups on adult dog food now and have never had any other problems
WHOLE MILK
I SUGGEST AND HAVE GOOD SUCCESS GIVING WHOLE MILK TO PUPS WITH LEG PROBLEMS,GIVE 2-3 CUPS A DAY FOR A FEW DAYS REALLY HELPED MY PUPS.

definitely ricketts...but be careful with the whole milk it can give them the scowers and cause 'em to dehydrate

I had a newfoundland that went down in the pasterns (her dew claw was touching the ground) I gave he vitiam C with rosehips. I think she had subline scurvy. I was feeding a good puppy food. Her pasterns popped up within a week.
