i just spent 5$ for a 2009/2010 official UKC coonhound rulebook as someone said it was the advisor always talked about on here....but, its merely the rulebook that i can find online or on the back of the score card..nothing more really....

id like a copy of this advisor thats always talked about on here...

When they come out we need to buy them all up. In a year you could sell them for 50x as much. Kind of like scalping tickets.LOL

Thats what I see as the problem. Any RULE BOOK that can't be easily understood with out another book to explain it just isn't getting the job done.

Back up and edit ,edit ,edit and get rid of the what if's and publish a RULE BOOK that clearly explains the rules . Then set it in stone so it takes an act of God to change them.

As it is we're working on rule changes right now that will take effect 1-1-2011 and the Advisor for the last changes isn't out if I understand it right. IT needs to be 1 Rule book.

There's an idea. Simple rules but if they had to supply cheese for the whiners it will get expensive. LOL

The rules have been as is for what three or four years now? People still don't know them and won't learn the new ones either. Don't get me wrong, I still flip the card over to double check sometimes but for the most part don't need to. Imagin the confusion when you add some more. Heck some people are tring to apply them now and the aren't even rules yet.

Chris,,,actually no they have not been the same for the last 3 or 4 years,,,,,,for instance there have been additions on gps tracking units,,,and look at the recast rule.
and there is a good example,,,, there have been clarifications on gps tracking useage on nite hunts. Those clarifications are not on the scorecard,,,,,,a prime example of what Dale is speaking about.
I suppose we follow the same principles as the US courts,,,,always making rulings on laws,,,,,clarifing their intent.

I still stick by what Dale said,,,plain language with no advisor needed...I am not real sure that it can be done, but it would be nice. UKC is still the premier registery out there, but I like the language on some of the other kc rule books, seems more straightforward.

Posted by Todd K / UKC on 05-07-2010 02:26 PM:

There will always be a need for a resource such as the Advisor. With all due respect to Dale and others, in my opinion the actual Nite Hunt Rules should remain as basic as they are so that they fit on the back of a nite hunt scorecard. A simple field reference to the basic nite hunt rules. Yes, the nite hunt rules could be more clearly written and Allen and I are discussing a total re-write to modernize the rules without changing intent.

The Advisor simply goes where the scorecard cannot in terms of the depth of each rule. And it allows us to detail policies which don't even appear on the scorecard. Things such as how to handle a lost scorecard...what to do if you have to move your event from the advertised location at the last minute.

Though Rule 1 does refer to the Advisor as an official interpretation of the UKC rules, the Advisor is not a rulebook. And that is what's frustrating is to hear people knock it because they think it shouldn't be necessary. I view it as a learning aid. If you are interested in reading and learning more about a particular rule or policy, it's available (or at least will be soon).

The status of the new Advisor is that Allen and I need to get it indexed and organized. The material is done. But this stage we are at right now is the hard part. And just making time to get it done is the really hard part. We are hoping to have it ready at Autumn Oaks.

TODD

I AGREE 150% PUT IT ON THE CARD IF IT NEEDS FIXED CHANGE IT ON CARD WHEN THE CARDS ARE UP DATED AT THE END OF EACH YEAR IF WE HAD A RULE TO COVER EACH THING THAT HAPPENEDIN EVER THING IN THE HUNT THE CARD WOULD 4 FOOT BY 8 FOOT USE COMMON SENCE NOT TWISTED SENCE TO PUT IT IN YPUR FAVIOR.

Posted by chris baker on 05-09-2010 11:44 PM:

I know there are a few different rules but not that many. Plain and simple most people don't know the rules or try to read them to bennifit their selves. Have been in to many hunts and seen it to many times.
