Money money money
I do not know if anybody else always to seem to be stretched thin but it sure seems to be that way for me.
Every thing is increasing in price but the rate of pay.
I recieved a raise of a whopping 3% this year.
Milk has incresed around 30%
Eggs has increased around 26%
Gas well it seems neverending
Grain prices are up and that is good for farmers. But it will increase groceries to compensate the raise in grain prices.
Everything is rising in price, but is 3% really a fair number for a cost of living increase?
I was just wanting to hear other opinions.

I feel you! We have horses and hay is next to impossible to find... then when you do find it, you can barely afford it. Our feed has gone up $4.00 PER BAG in the last week! Needless to say, we're switching feed. It's killing me!

I got horses too, I always complained about how expensive they were to feed but the way dog food is going up soon I will be paying as much to feed them as the horses

Well if it makes you feel any better. Heres some prices from haiti.
gas - $7.00 a gallon
one regular skillsaw - $300
A regular worker makes $8 - $10 a day
An electrician makes about $12 a day.
Yes, I said, a DAY.
Your average person in haiti lives in a tin shantee. Basically, thats two sticks in the ground with a peices of tin leaning against them. If your rich you have a real house with a foundation and everything. Oh, and the most popular religion is voodooism. They believe in canabalism. They do it reguarly. I know all this because my preacher goes down there and preaches and helps them build schools and churches once a year.

Cattle
I sold all my cattle at a loss,This past hay season was about half.
I ended up saling about 30 big round bales after i sold my cattle. I sold it for 35 dollars a bail to one person, and i didn't know it at the time but he didn't even take it home,he took it straight to a horse owner and sold it for $50 dollars a bail. If any one you know needs hay this year give me a call,I'll give them a contract price on it no matter how high it gets. Should if wheather is wright have about 75 to 90 big bails to sale.If they take it all and pay for it in advanced i will give them a good deal on it. Rodney Burke 1-812-621-0534

in 2002 milk was $9.00- about $11.00 per hundredweight
I know I was milking then lol no anymore and I have heard it's been as high as $20.00 and is still hanging on around $15-$17
and don't kid yourself I work and a implement dealer and farmers have plenty of money to spare not hurting as bad as they make it sound. if they can afford to pay $300-$400 an acre rent and but land for $7000 to &10000 an acre things arn't bad

when i was milking cows in the 80's we got around 12$ per hund. gallon at the store was under two. looks like we ought to be closer to 17-22$. parity. that was the buzz word in farm economics then. parity. still doesn't exist.
What I don't understand is how can crude oil companies have such a high profit margin and tell the country that they have nothing to do with the increase of gas prices??? Price gouging is supposed to be regulated in the US, but not on Crude Oil?????
I know something is going to have to give, because Americans (middle class) can not go on pay the price increase on goods and services, when the pay rate isn't increased.
I am affraid that America may have another depression on their hands. The stock market is already depriciating.

I sell organic milk, I am being paid a little over 28$cwt.
My costs are steadily rising just like everyone elses, I would expect I will be getting over 30$ by the end of the year....Im not getting rich, but it is a viable business that I can bring my son into if he wants...That is my goal.
Organic corn is selling for 10-14$ bu. ---If you can even find some.
Organic milk sells in the store for 5-6$ a gallon....It may not be parity, but its a lttle closer.

But I sure feel your pain as well though. Everythings going up and as someone said the middle class folks are going to really feel it.__________________

Is there even a middle class anymore?
On the milk issue I have three girls and me and the youngest which is 4 doesnt drink anything but milk and water. I would say that on a average we buy 6 gallons a week.
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. JMO!!!!

Gas hit $3.15 a gallon here yesterday. It went from $3.07 to that in a couple of days. I do not know how many folks are making a living paying that for gas.
If you would have asked me two years ago if I was better off than I was 8 years ago, I would have said YES!. Now two years later, I say NO!. The rising fuel prices killed my business about a year and a half ago.
This is ridiculous to pay that much for fuel, especially when I read about the profits of the oil companies.
Everything seems to be going up.But my parents and some of the farmers around them are only getting 50$ a ton of corn. And hay that is sold they are only getting $1.10 a bale.Heck my dad has sold all his cattle just to keep afloat. The little farmer man gets pushed out of business while the big corperate farmer gets more money.Like my dad always says.Everyone is down at sometime but always gets back to the top.I went and bought a bag od Diamond in the green and yellow bag and paid $18.00 for a 50# bag.
