Start with tone if your collar has it,work your way up.Have some patience. You wont stop a babbler in one nite.

1st I'd try a light shocking. If that don't work take it to the nearest dog trader.A dog that ant smart enough to keep its mouth shut till it smells a coon won't eat my feed long.Jmo

how old is the dog if it is a pup and you just started huntin it chances are it will come out of it on its own. is it being hunted by itself or with other dogs? if being hunted with other dogs by chance is it tracking them?

She's a little bit more than a year old. I aint plannin on gettin rid ov her i hunt for fun not competion. And she trees so she's fine in my book just wonderin if there was a good way to stop it without making her quit barkin altogether.
A shocking collar is a great training tool if used wisely.Just let the dog know that babbling means trouble. The last dog I broke from it was very easy and didn't effect the dog.
Throw some dirt in his mouth or peanut butter by the time his mouth is cleaned up he will be struck legit

Sometimes I just think they get over excited and thats the cause. I think one thing you can try before you break out the shocker is simply hunting the daylights out of it and wearing it down. That tends to slow them down a little and fix a lot of things.

very simple get rid of the strike pts.out side of that send your buddy ahead of you drive on dwn the rd, and send it back in to your buddy might work.
Correct it, how do you correct a dog for something you don't see as appropriate. Simple use a proper form of correction. Never use more correction then what is needed to stop the behavior.
If your in doubt of what are proper forms of correction, there are plenty of books, articles and opinions on what corrections are the most effective. Different dogs do respond differently to different types of correction.
In this particular case, I would use an e collar, cast a dog in woods where you know coon are thin and deep in the woods. I would cast the dog, and and begin to nick it every time it opens for the first few minutes.
I would also focus on barking around the house. In time you should begin to see the results you desire. I've found controlling barking takes more time to break then other bad habits.
I agree most babblers cant be broke.....or at least broke reliably.
I did have one back in the late 80s early 90s I did break of it though.
I hunted him almost always alone at home and he was decent.......then I noticed a huge hole, he dog barked BAD when I started taking him to hunts...this was in the days of struck on or before the 3rd bark and dogs accualy got scratched for babbling. big thing was cut them across an open field and scratch the babblers.........
I started hunting him with other dogs at home and busting his chops when he dog barked......he quit doing it with dogs he knew but would still do it in a cast with 3 other strange dogs...and I was at a loss of how to correct him when by then he ONLY did it in casts.
I couldn't correct him in licensed casts, so I took him to some of those club/fun hunts.....we had us some come to jesus meetins, he saw the error of his ways, and I went on to win something like 22/23 out of 24/25ish casts with him.
