The Lord has blessed me to own, and hunt some good hounds. A couple that were well known, and some that were not. The young dog I have now, is becoming my favorite. Some would not like him as much as I do. He's not perfect. He doesn't have the loudest mouth I've ever heard, is not the fastest barking tree dog I've ever seen, is not the fastest dog on track I've ever seen, he's not the best looking dog I've ever seen, and is not what I would consider completely finished, but I really, really like him a lot. He is not for sale, nor is he at stud. I am not posting this to blow smoke, but to thank the Good Lord for blessing me with a young dog like Jim. We have become "Pals" , if you know what I mean.

I have a couple of females here that I hunt, and plan to breed in the future. I have one double Vinning Running Bullet X Honey Run Becky female here that I plan on breeding. I'm not much of a hunter, and do not consider myself to be a breeder, but I like bluetick hounds as much as those who are trainers, good hunters, and breeders. I am "Truly Blessed!!!" Thanks to everyone that has made a contribution to these dogs, and to all of those who are working to preserve the old Smokey River lines.

Mr. Edwards,
Would sure like to see a picture and pedigree of the Bullet and Becky female. I like that cross a lot.
Thanks,
Sandy

I'll be glad to provide that as soon as I can. She looks just like Crazy's Blue Fly, and Bullet.

Sure thing!!! I need to get her pic and pedigree posted. I'm not real good at it, and it takes a long time. She shows her breeding!!! She should come in soon, and I'm wanting to get these pups into the hands of good hunters.

I made a post about wind treeing, and shared my experiences with Jim. I have seen him really progress. Last night I turned him loose, and I was watching him go through the woods. He was going away from me when all of a sudden, he stopped on a dime, threw his nose in the air, and took off in a different direction. He didn't go far, and just fell treed. It was a big pine tree. I shined the tree for a long time, and was about to give up, and decided to look from one more angle, and I found an eye. He had it!!! It's been a while since he treed in the wind. He does, however, just fall treed. Last night was the first time I actually saw what he was doing. He caught scent in the air, and went straight to the tree. I hope he has turned the corner.

Craig, some nights Irene may tree coon and never open on the ground. With age she doesn't open alot on tracks anyway. When winding conditions are right she'll flat tree some coon. Flo is deadly on the layups also. Sounds like you have a nice young hound.

Thanks a lot Dennis!!! The Nippet female I raised is Jim's great grand dam. Nippet was out of a female which was out Corey Mailes Jimmy dog, and a Chief female. Jimmy was the dog that disappeared one night, and a long time after that someone found his collar in a cave. Jimmy was out of Sooner Be Blue, and Corey's old Rudy female, Rudy Sue's dam. Some of the same stuff that is in your dogs are in these dogs, if I'm thinking right. Jim is a real pleasure to hunt; I don't have to use a leash if I don't want to. He minds better than most kids!!! He's got the intelligence of a Lab. I believe he's getting there...... if I don't mess him up.

This is Andy, Jim's grandsire. Andy was the best young dog I ever owned.

This is Mayberry Blue Sha-Zam. (He was a littermate to Jimmy Anderson's Brutus dog, the sire of Herrons Lockdown Bad Ace. ) They were out of Nippet and Andersong's Jake. My Jim II dog has a lot of the same blood that Ace's has. I owned Tramp, (Anderson's Jake's sire) and Tramps sire, Smokey River Spud. Both Brutus, and Shazam were born right here.

If you happened to read this thread, I'm not going to bore you with a bunch of pictures. This is the last one....for now!! haha!!! This is Nippet!!!! Man oh man, I would love to hear her ringing chop on the tree again. This is how you found her every time, regardless of the track......cold or hot...didn't matter.

Mayberry Blue Diamond Jim, treeing a coon. He is Jim II's sire. I have to look real close, because it's hard to tell them apart. About the same size, and same color. Jim was a pretty good coon dog!!! He didn't need any help. He was wearing a shock collar, because sometimes he would go wide, and I would tone him when I needed him to come. He was doing well in the hunts. He won most of his casts by being the only dog under a coon. He had a 1st, and 3rd, when he met his fate on the highway. Jim II is a lot like him. Jim II trees a little harder, and has a little more fire than his dad did. Jim II trees more layups than any dog I've owned.

Rudy was from Ben and Cory's old Sue female. Ben was from Quail Creek Jimmy X the first blue gyp I owned, (76 model). The dog in the cave was a super young dog . Kevin didn't get to hunt him hard because of work. Rudy was a small gyp but was a real track dog.

Thanks for the info!!! I had heard someone, maybe Cory, say the dog lost in the cave was a nice dog. I really like the way your hounds are bred. Maybe, one day, I can get a pup from you. You have obviously done a lot right. I really like the looks of the Rebel dog, and seems like he reproduced some good ones too.

Cory's boys have a pair of young dogs from Rattler x Flo that are real nice. They would have jeans Ruby and Pete on both sides of pedigree.

Craig

small world, I gave the River Bottom Lucy a ride from NY at Ken Fischer's place to Bluetick Days to deliver to Ken Adkins.. I spoke to a fellow who knew the man who raised her and he said she was one power treedog. She threw good pups. So rest assured that part of his pedigree is solid...

No he isn't. I let a young guy in our church have him, and one night he broke the chain, and has not been seen since. My guess is he got caught up, and met his end. That's been a few years ago. He made a super nice hound, and would have done well in the hunts. He would get by himself, and have a coon.

I tried to call you. I have a double bred Running Bullet X Honey Run Becky female, that is just beginning to come in. She is a really nice overall hound, and good tree dog. Has not been hunted much in the past year or two, but can still get it done. I wanted to talk to you about breeding her to Ace. I've heard a lot of good reports on Ace's pups. I had the privilege of owning a few hounds in Ace's pedigree, and would love to have something out of him. Call me if you get a chance. It should make a great cross, with the potential of producing something really special.
