Clair Chenoweth.

Read on the UKC Coonhound thread that Clair passed away. We've lost a good man and a Black and Tan man that always had a good one in the kennel. My condolences to the family and friends.

I really hate to hear this. One of the most influential men our breed has ever seen. Clair was a great person and dog man. He will surely be missed!

Our breed has lost a good one. Clair probably won more hunts with B&Ts than anyone around. He loved his blk dogs. He also had one of the best packs of bear dogs in the country.... I'm blessed to have hunted with Clair and his hounds, especially Smokey... Thoughts and Prayers go out to the family and friends. RIP Clair.

Sorry to hear of his passing.

I just met him one time and won't say I knew him very well, but his actions and accomplishments speak for him. Personally, I can't turn a dog loose without seeing his influence.

I think if a person could draw up the perfect plan for how a man from outside the breed could come in and truly help the B&T Breed, Mr. Chenoweth would be it.

A man with resources, integrity, knowledge and intelligence to come in, just buy the best B&T he could find, promote it at a high level and make the dog available to everyone and stay above the static, politics, and jealousy. The B&T breed sure could use a few more like him.

Several of us felt recognition for him was short, so a few years back we got together and presented him this plaque.

Nice to see you guys recognizing Clairs contribution to the B&Ts while he was alive ,some may not know that he owned several nice Walkers back in the day. Like I said on another post he touched alot of other peoples lives through the years . My condolences to his family .

I'm not familiar with who's in or how you get the lifetime achievement award but I'd think he deserves it as much as anyone. The smokey dogs might've been unheard of if it wasn't for Clair. He did a lot for the breed as far as winning and promoting goes even in his later days. I've had a few nice smokey bred dogs that were fun to hunt.

Hate to hear this. Clair was as nice and honest man as you'll find anywhere. I bought Brandy from him when she was 15 months old. Talked dogs with him for 6 hours that day and hunted her and Sue that night. Treed 2 quick. One of those hunts ya never forget. My condolences to the family.

I did dozens of B&T Interviews for the Assoc and met some nice people and some not so nice. But interviewing Clair was a pleasure. He was a class act , no hidden agendas and a fine man.

I'm sorry to hear he is gone..

Here's a link to that 2011 interview I did with Clair : http://www.abtcha.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=863
