circle

if it was scored anything other than that you got screwed. i know you cant do any thing about it now but i would keep that pic on my phone and show it to anybody that might draw out with the person that did that so they know what kind of person they will be hunting with.

Still need more information to score appropriately:

1. Was the dog I was handling on this tree and eligible
for minus points?
2. Where am I at on the scorecard and where are you?
3. If this is minused will it give me the lead, or another
advantage?

When the blanks above are filled in, I will be better informed to make a decision on the scoring of this tree.

All kidding aside, it looks like a sure enough circle tree if the nest is really as big as it looks in the photo.

MINUS, if it was my dog. I guess I'm just to honest. If there was a coon up there you would of seen him sitting on top that hawk nest or somthing. Mabe an ear or part of a tail. If not than minus it.

Had one of those plused up at a world hunt... because an ear was seen sticking up... hmmm... but.. I had treed my dog on our way to that tree as time expired and if the tree with the nest was circled or minused.. and my dog had the meat I win... if the nest was plused I lost... guide judge and handler was buddies... SO!!!! still today I don't see how they could see anything sticking out of the top of the nest in that tree.. but oh well...

Got to pack a dog that will tree a coon for starters Sy!

I have been with a fella during kill season In tje past that would sling a little lead in a nest like that and was suprised how many coon were actually tucked in them darn things . Every hunt cast and judge are different. It is hard to score a picture but from the look of the size of that nest circle it!

Reminds me of hunting into daylight one night when the dog got treed with the sun popping up. Could not find a coon but had a squirrel nest in the tree. The dog was fairly accurate and the nest was THE only place a coon could hide, so just had to see for myself. I was a little surprised to wake up a sow and two kittens out of that nest. Gave me a slightly different perspective in that coons can in fact do a pretty job of hiding out in a squirrel nest.

This could look totally different at night with 4 lights coming from 4 different angles. I'd have to see it at night with a sunfire.

Circle tree, but I took minus points year ago at the Georgia State Hunt when my dog treed on a VERY LARGE deer stand, a condo with a corn pile nearby. The Judge wouldn't allow me the climb the stand to take a look. I still remember that Brad.

Posted by dbpro56 on 03-18-2014 05:33 PM:

Seems very logical to me, that is a place of refuge! If it wasn't, the dog that treed on that tree, sure picked the right tree to miss, if in fact he did! Circle, no doubt!

I was hoping someone would say this, I've seen plenty come kicking out of a squirrels nest too. Way to many to ever just minus it because the coon isn't visible in the nest. I too hunted with a guy that would shoot into them in kill season. He had a fine dog and he was right a lot more than he was wrong.

wow

I don't want this to turn in to a "dog fight" but mr Sy I think my old hounds accomplishments speak for themselves. ..........
Any night any woods we might see a few squirrels nests packing coons tho!
