human suppliments for dogs? (why protein, creatine)

has anyone ever considered or tried using creatine and whey protein for dogs. my thoughts were it would help to add weight and muscle up a hound for the competition circuit.

My guess is it would be ok but meat would be better, the reason most use the powder is because its hard to eat that much meat to get the grams of protein you need, most will tell you meat is the better source.

well perry actually if you read up on it the whey protein is an even more digestible protein than meat meaning it just easier for the body to break down and use. as in the case with a lot of dog foods they will claim so much protein say 20% but in a lot of cases the dogs body can't digest the protein the food is providing so they actually don't get 20%

If your looking to put weight on just search satin balls there are different recipes but they work really well.

I wasn't talking just weight I mean lean functional muscle. I was just wondering if this would help for a hound that gets pounded.

Sound like you already know the answer then, it would be great to use.

chiggers I don't know I am not sure if the dogs body will break down these proteins the same as the human body. I may have to do some experimenting

dog supplement

Check out gorilla max for dogs it a meat based protein. That a dogs body can brake down and it works .I live in east Tennessee and if you hunt a hound hard here he will fall of fast if not feed a good dog food I use it and it helps keep the muscle mass .

IMO U would be far of ahead if u conditioned a dog for competition as opposed to adding supplements that just can't do what hard work can accomplish. Whey protein I stay away from. Creatine use in dogs is a controversial issue.U r sure to get negative responses to that ? Nonetheless to each his/her own.

I agree with the conditioning but RF-1 along with a real conditioning program will put results in front of you.

Those other supplements are junk compared to RF-1. Alone with hard hunting will show you results also!

dog whisper I am talking about a dog that is hunted hard. I know a lot of these products are made for a faster recovery process in torn down muscle

Anybody ever cooked and feed the coon to the dogs? I was thinking about that last night when I was skinning it out. But I knew the ole lady wouldnt let me bring it in the house so I figures it was a bust for now. Maybe make me a boiling.pot outside or something, like what we use to scrape hogs.

Posted by skeets on 11-01-2013 07:57 AM:

i feed my dogs coon meat, from what ive seen its better then anything you can buy from a store.

Posted by micooner on 11-01-2013 08:02 PM:

if your going to feed the coon boil the heck out of it to kill all the worms coon carry.

B-12 warning it works but you tear the guts out of one if miss used.

i have used Whey Protein with good results. I have used on dogs and on show pigs. It builds muscle and they seem to digest it well. But also take into consideration that they also need fat to covert into muscle and ENERGY. If you increase protein also increase fat intake

I have used creatine at times if your hard hunting, it builds muscle and really rips them up. its like any other suppliment dont use if not hunting hard, it will put extra weight on them. but for recovery, i have some already mixed and give after i have them loaded and headed for a new spot.
