Good grief, Lep Curs
Lep Curs, isn't that a dog that kinda covers any thing like a shotgun? Can't you pick up one at the pound? Let me get this strait...they can look like anything (with the mange ), wild eyed (usually yellow eyed or green), any color (calico...like a cat), and sound like a yard dog after a kids bicycle. All purpose...chasing coon, bear, cattle, the neighbors chickens or whatever. Still mouth on track...like there is no dog in the race. Temperment like a pit bull on a wild hog. Lastly, the only one in a show or a hunt..alone, like Obama at an NRA meeting. Boy, thats what I want to hunt....way to go ukc.
A leopard hound won last years winter classic. These are not the catahula dogs your thinking of!
i trust your just trying to get something started,if not you don't have a clue what your talking about.

here are a few pics of a nice "cur". He sure isn't anything like the dog you describe. My wife won a nice shiny new Owens dog box with him last year and it sure wasn't for winning the bench show.
i have personally never heard about or seen a leopard cur but im sure everything you stated previously cody is false.
every dog (breed) has its faults and what ive read about the leopards there only fault is they are one man dogs but you got that in all breeds.
but they can come in any color have any kind of mouth run anything and they are accepted i suppose just like every other dog out there.
would i own one NO i wouldnt because im a walker guy.
are they all bad dogs. NO they are not
most of the more well known Leopard men are all ex walker men who got tired of looking up empty trees. I have two Harry semen dogs, a Trackman gyp, a Mr. Clean gyp, and an Extreme Insane X gyp. I even have an old GRNITECH bitch who is a direct daughter of Swamp. As you can see I am no stranger to walkers but there is something about these Leopards that has definately caught my attention to say the least. Mine sounds like a Bluetick, hunts as deep and fast as a walker, is independent as they come, is smarter than most peoples kids, and handles like a border collie. A little piece of advice don't go trashing a breed you have obviosly never been to the woods with. someday one just might make a believer out of you and make you eat a little crow. Trust me I speak from experiance. LOL Shine was my wifes project and I degradingly refered to him as her "cur" Needless to say he made a believer out of me! He is most definately a coondog, and deserves the title of HOUND.

A few people round here are puttin em on bear. Super gritty, fast, and brains to boot. Jus like any other breed , with responsible breeding habits they should be fine.
leopard hound
I bought one (B&T colored) from east Tenn. a few yrs. back, for a hog dog. Couldn't ask for a better hound in every way. I got too old to hog hunt or he would have stayed here his whole life.He is back in Tenn. last I heard and can't be bought. And I said HOUND
I have coon hunted off and on for 45 yrs. Hunted smokey river bred blueticks until 5 yrs. ago and had some real good ones. I got 2 female Leopard hounds to just try them. Never have I had dogs that are more enjoyable to hunt.Never need a leash and I tree twice as many coons. I don't hunt the night hunts any more but for sure they could win there share. If I knew how to put a pic. on here i would. They don't look like curs at all. If you want to see what mine look like just look on the cover of the Jan. issue of Coonhound bloodlines, those are mine. Oh and they are very open on track. Wouldn't feed a tight mouthed dog!!
I am a walker man through and through but there are good and bad in all dogs. But if you want to get technical the walker breeders are turning the walker dog into a cur. The walker dogs of today are a n example of competition breeding and act nothing like the dogs are supposed to. I am having a hard time finding a walker dog that will run a track and open every once in a while. Every dog I have tried goes through the woods looking for a tree, they dont strike and run a track they just fall treed like a stinking cur.
