Thats a good way to get yourself in trouble. what would be the point of killing one. Cant talk about it, cant have it mounted. they are not a nuisance like coyotes cause if they were their would be a season on them. I have never seen one in the wild.

seen one on my farm here in Noble county. Don't know if it lives here or was passing through. What is their travel radius?

if you never followed a dog at night chaseing one and haveing it jump out on you everytime you get close and
haveing dogs that had enough grit to kill one when they caught it when they were lucky enough catch it when it jumped,

had that happen one night but lucky all 3 dogs on tree would have died before quiting a fight and dogs only ended up with pearced ears and scratches on their chests/bellys instead of being gutted if one on one..we never got close enought to see the fight but when the dogs got done with it they returned with a smile on their faces,,lol,,i wont feed a sissy dog,,if you see me showing a dog at a bench show ,you can bet on it wont be a sissy and still eat my feed

if i see one around here they will have a heart attack ,cause i value my dogs more than haveing a stuff toy to brag about.

my dogs are bred/trained for coon but some dogs just cant resist a cat,,
i dont hunt for $$$or bragging rights so if i see a bobcat have a heart attack it will be left for the circle of life to brag on not me..
maggets have to have something to eat and i dont want it to be my dogs....
happy hunting...

Still not a good Idea to preach about it. These hunting forums and any outdoor forums get looked at by game wardens. I am a taxidermist and deal with them alot and the fines for shooting something out of season or are protected are not worth it. Now I am sure that you would probably not get in trouble if your dogs or yourself are threatened but to kill one if you see it aint going to be worth it. JMO

i know what your saying,if i did see one have a heart attack in frount of me i wouldnt be on here telling everybody where i saw it happen, lol
that would be between me and mother nature,

but due to the coyotes and now the bobcats too,the rabbit population has droped to where i gave away my rabbit dogs yrs ago cause of the yotes. i read somewhere that the cats will hurt the small game population worse than the yotes ,so now with both preditors in the area heavy, wasnt a problem when they were in the state lands and the strip mines but now they are populated to where they are everywhere, including chaseing rabbits thru my yard,,and think they are responsable for cutting on little moe, lucky he is shortlegged and they only got him on top of the head, they are getting too brave when they go into a dogs house looking for something to eat,

Try speaking English. I think what you're saying is that you're worried about a 25 pound cat tearing up your dogs?

You ever seen what that "little 25 pound cat" will do to a dog. Those 4 razor blades on the ends of their paws will gut a dog in the blink of an eye!

Cats...

Don't worry about cats gutting your dogs. It's not impossible but it's a lot closer to being a myth than reality.

Why would anyone hunt them regularly in the day? Retorical question. Hunt them cats in the day...it's a lot more fun than hunting at night anyhow.

It sounds like there is getting to be a fair number of cats up there. Your not going to find them everywhere you find coon but when you folks get ir figured out, your going to find a lot better challenge than you will hunting coon. Your also going to find out just how good your dogs really are real quick. Those cat dogs sure don't come in bunches.

I hunt them full time and really enjoy it. The only thing that is as much fun (to me) is gray fox.

We ran a bob in northern IN one night. Treed a few in TN and caught one on the ground in TN one night. They are not that dangerous. The male caught on the ground ripped the dog up pretty good but not to bad. If your dog gets killed by a cat its his own fault I wish we had better ways of treeing cats down here.

I'd really like to know who's treeing these cats at night and seeing them in the tree when you get in there?!?!

Yes, there are bobcats in Ohio. The PA Game Commission has been putting them out around here for the last 10 years. Of course they are going to migrate to Ohio. They don't know state lines, they are just cats! lol

i like to see some of them that stayed treed at night also,,

the bobcats were stocked/lived in saltfork state park as far back as the late 70's,early 80's

run some long legged coon in there back then also, that were hard to get to tree, but had a few dogs then that could gett'er done ,
then quit hunting there when bigfoot/bear or whatever put the fear of god in my dogs...

now the bobcats are everywhere,,
i think its about time they put a season on them,
