I'll say this................Tracker's soon be released GPS tracking system rocks.

Once it hits the market, I think you'll be hearing "Garmin Who?".

Got to play with one back in Feb for a week and was more than impressed.

have a garmin ,needs improvement

Posted by Rip on 04-23-2009 01:16 AM:

What makes it better than the Garmin?

Does it have increased range or something? That and the charging system are the only two things I see that can be improved, but the range is fine for me personally.

Sounds great, please fill us in.

Garmin who ?

I think the only down fall on Garmin is the nylon collars.. I have fine range. And the graphics on the map tells me all I need to know. I don't think I could ask for much more.....

Its been a while since I read anything about the tracker GPS , but my understanding is it will use cell phone towers to relay info. That would give it unlimited reach , PROVIDED YOU HAVE CELL SERVICE .

In other words , you could sit in your living room in Florida and track your dog in California with unlimited coverage. The problem might be that some areas do not have cell coverage though.

I'm sure they are working on that problem and I'v heard rumors that it will work better than cell coverage , but I dont know that for a fact.

The Garmin uses a radio signal to relay GPS details where'as the Tracker would use cell signal.

I could be worng , but this is what I have been told.

I thought that was the location nation tracker that used a cell phone and computer..Here were I hunt. One that uses cell phone coverage would be pretty much useless!

At some point in the future I am sure there will be several companies making GPS tracking systems, but at this time there are only two that I know of and Garmin is the best.

Technology improves everyday and who knows what will be the best system a year or two from now. It may be Tracker or Marshall , but I would not count Garmin out either because they have the jump on everybody and I don't think they are done with their improvements yet. It will be a lot easier to add a better collar to a system thousands already own than it will be for everybody to buy a whole new system at the prices Tracker and Marshall are known for. JMO

At this time, I can't say much about the system........just teasers. LOL

I thought cell towers would be an issue as well. I had been real skeptable of that and even posted in the past on that --- some of the places I turn out cell phones are useless -- I was able to have GPS signal with the system in those areas.

GA DAWG, as far as getting more range -- way more, more than the traditional radio tracking systems.

Posted by GA DAWG on 04-23-2009 03:26 AM:

Yeah but Would I not have to have cell phone internet service or something to run that system..Also do they charge a yearly fee on the service? Come on SPILL THE BEANS BUCKSHOT!

Garmin GPS

Get a Garmin I've got one and it works great. Best place to get one is Quail Hill Kennels Petersburg, WV.... www.quailhillkennels.com

Posted by DOUG CHEEK on 04-23-2009 12:57 PM:

the system that I saw you --used a cell phone ---worked great if you had service---when you didn't have any service you were out of luck on finding your dog -and you had a monthly cell bill also just like a cell phone bill

I don't think you'll be seeing to many Garmin users rush right out and buy another GPS tracker.

Will you have to pay any kind of service charge to the cell phone company for using the new Tracker gps? If it uses cell towers it would look like they would charge.
