What line of English do you prefer
I know about the lightfoot bred dogs, but was wondering about some other lines. I live in Iowa and have a nice track dog. Bawl on track and a cold nose. I know that there have been some of his relation that have been used successfully on cats and others out of dogs on his papers have been used. Just wondered what people prefer.
btt
every thing I have here goes back to Oney,Hardtime(speck) and Sugar creek, have been crossing in Roooster with real good results
English blood
If your looking for cat dog's the Oney blood seem's to do well, from what I have seen and heard.

Thanks, going to be breeding a daughter of St. Nick who is Oney blood on bottom, to my heavy linbred Northridge/Wilcox bred dog on top and out of a daughter of Wolfcreek Deisel. He has a 1st and 2nd in UKC. Im going to try to finish him before the pups are born.
Finished my male to Ntch this weekend, the female that was bred shows alot of Oney blood on the bottom and my male goes back to Rooster in the 4th generation. I think that they could do well on whatever they are put on.
english breeds
Mi.swamp rooster bred dogs are good.I allso know Asa's Jack dogs are good hounds.
My choice is Crank,Willy's JOJO,wilcox for cat hunting in dry ground.
Daughter of St Nick only had 4 pups. They were spoken for by coon hunters when they were born. Going to bred my Ntch daughter of ol Rooster to him when she comes in. She's comin 9 but hopefully can still have them. I hope maybe to get one in a big game hunters hands. I want to try to have hounds that will excell on whatever you put them on, and also be able to compete on the bench also.

My opinion
For what it is worth. I dont care for triple D or his hounds. They are winning some and that is fine. Why you would breed something that passes on that washed out look and that same mouth is beyond me. He downgrades everybody for line breeding and doubling on bad traits but yet that is how he makes his crosses.
Anyway I really like the wilcox lines and have got along great with them. I am currently trying out a wilcox x northridge female that I think will be good too. Also just got 2 pups form Lary Marshall that ought to fit the bill. They are bred right to get to hunt bear and lion when we move.
Sorry for highjacking your post Jeff but you know me had to let it out!!

I've been hunting a grade, crossbred set of English hounds and into the third generation on them. Most of them go back to original Mecham bred hounds for western lion and bear hunting and do a pretty darn good job on big game. They have all been pretty cold nosed and willing to work up a crappy track, fast and have plenty of grit for the tough stuff. Most of these dogs have been out-crossed to my redbones and to walker dogs by others in their past, and are really just big game hounds that are colored English--but I sure do like'em..........

Griz

Kody, Rui Li and Maverick a black plott dog

My now twelve year old Ryan dog that they all came from.
ike
I've also have a Triple D pup born Oct 2 2008, i like her alot haven't really been able to get her out for real yet because of this quite season,(ends the 8th) ,But I also have a Male pup out of Halls wild child Joker male and he is most defently the real deal on coon.
I don't think anyones hunting of Jokers pups on big game but It would be interesting to see someone try.

Joker is lightfoot bred on one side. Ive been hearing some very good things about him. I might have to try to make it out there and see him.

breed preferred
Im still a few years fresh to hunting with hounds. I prefer to hunt with English Redticks. In Utah we do alot of dry ground hunting in rough, rocky terrain and the line of dogs that have proven to possess the essential qualities needed to finish a track successfully come from Wilcox,Northridge, Crank, Swamp Rooster blood lines. These dogs are strong leaders, independent, big bawl mouth, ton of heart, intelligent, good temperment, easy to handle, and once you own one you will pat yourself on the back for buying one of the best **** dogs youve seen go......
My male is heavy linebred Wilcox and Northridge on the top and out of a daughter of Wolfcreek Deisel. I will be breeding a daughter of Rooster to him in the very near future(supposed to be in this month) I also have a daughter of Buckley creek Timber and Northridge Mandy T 150. I havent found anything not bred like this that satisfies me.

Oney and Neuse river are good but I think there are good ones in all the lines just depends on your own opinion
