Treeing a few but it is tough since there's nothing really for them to eat now. If it wasn't for having out feeders, might just have to quit!!!

SAVE THE COON, HUNT WITH A HOUND!

Posted by anscox on 01-30-2008 02:57 PM:

No luck here. The normal coon spots have no activity, deer feeders are usually crawling with them but not now. Hasn't been good since last spring. Guess the drought and then the lack of food and water this winter has had something to do with it.

i cant even hardly catch one in a trap right now the other night we wnt on a poundage hunt and out of 20 groups only 4 coons and the biggest on was only 13 pounds pretty sad if u ask me

Been rough here. Lots of wind last few weeks. Raining alot also which we need. River jumped the banks last night everything is flooded except hillsides. Coons are scarce due to drought last year.

We've got three young dogs that just got started, hoping to put in some good hunting time on them and have them ready to compete this season, that's not going to happen probably. It's been since mid-November when we last trapped a coon, had traps out on three different farms and no luck. Deer feeders usually bring them in droves, none there either.
Several other local hunters have said the same thing, no one's seen a coon in several weeks.

Anybody hunt out of Livingston, TN two weekends ago? It was that clubs first of the year, hope somebody found something.

Hunt In Rogersville TN

We had a Hunt at the club in Rogersville TN Sat 2/2/08 There were 3 Nite Ch Case and I think 6 reg cast. Some pretty good scores were brought in . I was late getting back had to go get a dog off tree after our time was up in our cast but I think over 600+ won Nt Ch and 450 or 475 won reg. and almost all case saw coon.
