Got Snow?

Who else is sick and tired of snow?? I dont even know how much we have but the hunting is shutdown till we get a bunch of warm days and a heavy melt! Lets see your snow photos! Here's one of me and my pup Dancer. Talk about getting bogged down.. when she hops off the beaten path she disapears! LOL

Hey Mike
Isn't all this snow just crazy??? Enough already!!!
When Dave got home tonight, after plowing, we took a few of the dogs outside. They've been cooped up in the indoor kennels for two days because we can't get to the outside kennel runs yet. Tonight, Jimmy and Tag LOVED leaping through the snow bankings that are around 6ft tall in our yard. Jimmy scaled the snowbank and ran across the top of it. Tag just dove in and landed on the backside of it. LOL
Tomorrow we'll try to get some pics of them in the snow. We also have to find a path to the outdoor kennel runs - these poor dogs have cabin fever!
We have around 4ft of snow with bankings of at least 6-7 ft tall.

Keep that little pup close by - you'll be sure to lose her in this weather!

Stay warm and don't eat the yellow snow!

Good night thats alot of snow.

The most we have ever had around here I remember was around 13-14". Most of the time its gone in a few days or weeks when we get it, and its only a few inches.

Ice on the ponds and rivers is a real fear around here this time of year. Just right for you or a dog to fall through.

Once in awhile though we get one of those humdingers that makes me want to move even farther south.

Mjflores, I took these pics of my cabin over the weekend. Not as much snow as you have but talk about frost. It was cold and foggy for a couple days and everything was coated. I bet a coon would break his neck trying to move in one of those oak trees.

Good luck with the cabin fever. I know I'll need it too.

PS Great looking pup you have!

Joanne, I think Dave needs a nice new snowblower! Yeah, get some photos on here of the reds climbing those snowbanks! That'll keep them in shape! lol

Rick those are cool photos! Thats a nice cabin...That one of the ice covered Oaks is nice enough to frame.

Those pictures are beautiful! Send some of that snow down here to Alabama, would ya?? It was 15 degrees here last night (coldest it's been all winter so far) and still no snow. The last time I even remember it snowing was like 2000 or 2001, and it barely covered the ground then melted fast. I would love to trade with yall for a few days. Stay safe and keep warm!

Becky

Be careful for what you wish for Becky! You're welcome to come on up and play in our snow..you just have to bring a shovel and promise to take some with ya when you leave LOL!

Good gracious mj.we don't have that much, but we do have reall bad roads. I swear I think the plow truck guys time their naps just right so they don't have to plow when it's needed most. All theway to work this morning, 46 miles, it was 32-35 mile an hour in 55-65 mph zones. I let Scrappy out a minute ago, I can't see the neighbors house!!!

Man, I'm not complaining any more. I was ticked off about the 12 inches that we got. Not any more. Still I wish I could go huntin.

I'm on my way with a dump truck! Might need to borrow your shovel though because when I asked for a snow shovel down here at Walmart, they just laughed at me. LOL!

Brain fart ... can dogs get frost bite? I imagine they can, but wondered how yall handle it with all that snow.

Take care!
Becky

Hahaha, Becky you could bring 100 dump trucks and it wouldn't put a dent in it! I complain about the snow but...I guess it's not so bad. I go out with my coon light after work, strap on the snowshoes, and look for tracks just like I did when I was a kid just getting home from school. It's fun looking for tracks, mostly deer but some coyote, fox, porcupine, moose, fisher, rabbit, squirrel....and when it warms up a bit..coon. I like to head out on the snowshoes everyday, keeps me in shape and keeps the lungs filled with fresh air, fends off the flu. I cant wait for this snow to pack down...been waiting to take my good friends Heather and Bob coon hunting, also my nephew. the dogs have a hard time getting through the deep snow. They have heart and sure will try, but it's aweful tough on them.
To answer your question, dogs can get frost bit but as long as you take good care of them they'll be fine. It's been zero degrees at night here and the dogs are fine...the key is good warm houses, plenty of fresh lofty straw, high protein feed, and warm water to drink several times a day.
At least when the cold temps hit...and the snow is to deep, us New Englanders get to partake in our favorite past time...boiling and eating chowda, lobstas and steamas LOL

We got a skiff or so over the last couple of days.. We are actually snowed out of our bobcat hunting spots.. Supposed to get up to 6 foot of snow in the higher elevations this weekend... grrrrr... it goes with our 50 mph winds and the uprooted trees that struck last night... Sometimes, winter sucks..

Here is a picture from last weekend of the house (we are in the valley) very rare that we get that much snow this low.

Did manage to find one thing as stupid as us, out in that weather.

LOL MJ! Sounds like a real good time. I'm still jealous though! News said today it's gonna be in the 50's tomorrow, 60's Sunday and Monday, then 70's on Tuesday. I reckon our chance for snow has come and gone. Build a snowman for me!

We have about 2ft of snow in the open around here and 3 - 4 ft in the woods, even more north of us. Can't go anywheres now without snowshoes. I'm ready for spring!
