Dog getting lazy on volume (help)

6 year old dog and a good pleasure hound last year he got Lyme disease I started medicating him for it I noticed that he had a loss of volume I figured that was due to the Lyme disease.
So took him to the vet the vet can't figure out any reason why he would be quieter the other day went out hunting struck a track around 300 yards from us barely could hear him he gets out over the hill over 800 yards we drive a little closer about 500 yards I can hear him treeing.

My buddy stays back at the truck he says he could tell whenever I got close to the tree he could hear the dog a lot louder after that plain as day there's a few times I noticed this but walking into the dog I thought it was just the way the sound was bouncing off the hill or something. so the dog is getting lazy he can still put out good volume but he chooses not to I guess.

How can I help improve this so he uses all of his volume every time and not just whenever I get to the tree to knock the Coon out

Well mine is just the opposite of yours. He's plenty loud when he can't see a light coming. But once he see's your light he doesn't tree near as hard.
As to a solution for your dog I have no clue.
