How old is too old to breed

I had a male beagle who started out as a decent rabbit dog but turn more into a house pet than anything else. He will be 7 on dec 31. I always wanted to get a female to breed and now my wife is getting me a female for my birthday. We picked her out today. She's just 4 weeks old. My question is, will my male beagle be too old to breed in about 1 1/2 years to 2 years from now. He's a good dog and I would like for his bloodline to go on.

I bred my 13 year old dog and female had 11 pups ,one died ,all are healthy and doin well now,my last 2 pups out of him were when he was 12/13 he finally died this year at 14
