Need help on getting a young dog to stick tree

I've got a English male that's 2 yrs old that I got back during the summer from my cousin, last winter he hunted him hard by himself an was treeing coons consistently, he quit hunting him in December an the dog the dog layed up till I got him this past July I didn't start hunting him hard till our coon season opened in October an he treed 2 coons the first night out an a couple since but he also started missing a lot an now he will strike a track run it to the tree an stay hooked for 5 or 10 mins the pull off an keep going the opposite way running, I'm clue less on what to do to to try to get him straightened back out, I hunt mainly mountain land an thin coon, my cousin wa hunting him a lot around corn fields an river bottoms where coon were plentiful an tracks were hot an easy could tht be some of the problem? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Best I've ever found to cure this is to hunt with another dog. Catch your dog off the tree and tie him close enough to see but not get into the action. Shoot the coon out alive and let the other dog fight it. Then put the coon in the coat and do not let your dog touch it, no praise, nothing. Then go tree another coon. This has always worked for me for dogs that will tree.
