Treeing squirrels turning into a problem

Everyday when me or my girlfriend get off work we turn my 1 year old male out and let him run the yard. Its a fenced in yard probably 2 acres all he does is run around and trees squirrels. He will tree on one tree for a minute then go to another tree and start treeing. When I take him to the woods he will run and tree a coon but wont stay at the tree but 2 or 3 minutes and doesn't tree very hard. If I can rush in there and get close to the tree he was treeing on he will go back and start treeing but only for a second. When I get there I tie him to a tree close to the one he was treeing on and check for a coon. He is pretty good about having the meat but as soon as I tie him up he just stands there and looks at the tree. I have tried petting him up and encouraging him to tree but he wont. Im just wondering if treeing squirrels and going from tree to tree is the cause of this. Im sure this will change once season comes in and I can shoot one out to him. Thanks for any help
