Tracking ability without leaves and with leaves
Has anyone ever noticed that a dog can smell better like during the fall hunting season when leaves r off then during the summer months when leaves r on it seems to be harder for a dog to track has anyone else ever noticed this
I have noticed a difference between hot and cold weather tracking conditions but I don't think its attributed to leaves. It is my theory that dogs can track better in the fall/winter mostly due to two reasons. #1 moisture and #2 cold air currents.
I believe with moisture collecting on the ground and the fact that cold air settles near the ground, that combination is more conducive to good tracking than what you find in warm/hot weather where the warm/hot air currents is lifting the scent off the ground allowing it to dissiminate into the air ways more easily.
Just my theory, and with that and about a dollar, you can buy a cup of coffee, lol!!!
