Know this has been beat to death
But, would you rather have a pup that runs his own track but hasnt figured out the tree part, or a pup thats always runnin an treein with the other dogs? I have pup that will hunt by himself but hasnt figured out that the track ends.. My garmin says hes treed an hell be about 300 yds out, but when i get to him hes jus runnin around an theres no tree with a coon anywhere around..

When hunting a youngun like that i stay on their butts....i can usually find the coon up a tree while they are tracking..then if the dog bumps that tree i am there to encourage him and praise him...doesnt take many times from my experience....they just lack the confidence and idea of staying treed...gotta build that up...
A lighted collar was worth its weight.in gold too..my current youngun was the first time i.used it and i loved it..it helped a ton...
