Garmin DC-30 Question

I found last nite I was loosing communtication alot more on one collar than the other once dogs got in deep. The one I was loosing communtication on was a older collar. From your guys experience what do you think it would be just the collar or the collar need to be updated? Antennas on the collar replaced?

I would first look at the antenna.
