Help With 14 Month Old Pup

I have a pup that is around 14 months old. He is highly independent and has been slamming coons left and right until about 3 weeks ago. Now he will run a track, shut up, hit another one, shut up and when he does tree, they have all been empty or atleast i cannot find the coon with all the leaves which i usually am pretty good about finding the coon, and sometimes will even leave the tree within a minute of being treed. My question is how did a pup go from being accurate and a stay put treedog turn into this? Hes been hunted pretty hard and im hoping that putting him up for a week or longer will turn him around for the better.
