I like to hear hound work a track.Even semi-silent.
Nothing loose mouthed or chop all the way mouth.

Hounds

As more of a pleasure hunter I want them to open on track. Had one that would ambush a coon but she didn't stay around but one season. She was a grand nite n had over 3000$$ in PKC. JesseJ

I have a silent one now. Last week she treed a coon 1000 yds from me. How did people hunt this kind of dog before trackers? Give me an open mouth dog. I like to hear a hound trail a coon.

I would rather hunt a dead silent one than these yakking suckers that never shut their pie hole all night long!

Ideally one that opens here and yonder, drifting type track dog that covers country and doesn't straddle a track.

I like them screaming sqwalling and bwaulling ones best, make hair stand up on back off neck kind.. Sound like somethings got a hold of them on track and tree.

Posted by ItsOlMander on 10-27-2017 04:22 PM:

ive always heard silent mouth dogs catch more on the ground or run them hotter because the coon dont know theyre after them... they also say silent/real tight mouthed dogs are quicker on track

but... i do love to hear a hound work... especially when theyve worked a tough one out and get it right!

I like a open trailing, bawl mouth hound. I like to listen to the race. that's what makes it fun for me.

I like them open trailers that beat them silent ones to the tree. That's why their silent, can't open and keep up.

Shhhh

I prefer a tighter mouthed hound, but will hunt either.
