Plat map on garmin

Is there anyway to get the property owners with birdseye on your own sd card without having to buy one preloaded by using garmin basecamp?

Posted by Bruce m. Conkey on 01-28-2017 12:17 PM:

.

Couple things you said here.

Basecamp has nothing to do with the Garmin Preloaded Huntview Cards. It is just plug and play.

Yes I would think there would be property owners maps out there somewhere you could download to a card. I know there is birdseye.

Thing is I don't think they would interface together and have the functions you get on a Huntview card. The Huntview card is a game saver for those that don't have the time or the experience to sit down at a computer and dig through a lot of information to make maps. I think by the time you purchase the blank SD card and then spend the time on the computer you would be money ahead with the Huntview card.

Huntview

The Huntview map cards are GREAT, like Mr. Conkey said, they are plug and play.

If I order one of the huntview cards what all does is show..is your maps the birdseye map and show property lines both?

.

You toggle to different maps with a push of a button or a touch of the screen, depending on what handheld you have.

Bruce is right, the huntview card is the way to go for most folks, but if you are tech savvy at all it is much better to use BaseCamp and manage your maps youself. I have High Def maps where I hunt around the house, and can download birdseye for different areas when I travel to a hunt, and delete them when I am done. I use the OnX Hunt app on my phone to see property lines when I want to.

But the Huntview maps for people that do not know how or want to do all of this is by far the best choice.

Maps

If I purchase the huntview map will I have the same detail as with my birdseye?

..

Depends on what level of detail you downloaded. The map when you drill down all the way becomes blurry but you wouldn't hunt on that close range. In the operating range for tracking your dog they are about the same. Now the FL map is not out, so I don't get to look at it every night in several locations.

If you have it downloaded and your happy why do you want a card. I have never looked at a card for your state but by the 100 yards it might be getting blurry. There are options and your computer skill and time decide them. If 100 yards is important to you then I would download the subscription. If landowners Great Birdseye at s little distance Works better for you then that's an option. I don't want to tell anyone wrong and at the same time I don't know you and what would work better for you. Please understand it would be easy for me to say they are great don't worry about it. I try to be as honest as I can about products. I would suggest to try and find a buddy that has it and see if it works for you. Second thing is purchase one and if it don't work You can return it. Most people are happy with it.

Can the card be swapped from one handheld to another? I use a Alpha while pleasure hunting and Astro while on a Nite Hunt. How long does it take the handheld to read the card on the first start-up after installing the card?

Bruce thanks for the info. Right now my Birdseye is fine but in the future I will be purchasing a Huntview map of both AR and OK as I live on the border. And I will order it from you.
