I finally made the trip up there last year just to see what it was all about. I have to say it was a pretty good time and it's something that everyone ought to go and experience at least once. The worst thing about it was the heat and trying to keep the dogs cool. We got there around 1pm so we could have time to walk and see everything. The parade was just beginning to wind down as we got there so we missed all of that but we did make our way up the hill to the small town and looked around in all the old little mountain stores. There were plenty of food vendors, a stage area where the bands played and even some carnival rides for the kids. They best advise I can give you if you are planning on hunting but are getting there early to look around is to make sure you get there early enough to get a parking spot next to the woods. That way you at least have somewhere to tie your dogs out in the shade and it won’t be so hot on you and the dogs.

It does get hot ... bring tents lots of water and battery fans ... we use generators to run fans now under the tent

No parking passes needed this year ... Tell them your going to ball field for the coondog events .... Remember get there early because of parade lineup....

11:00 is the parade start time - but if you are not to the field before 9:00 or 9:30 you may not make it because they use the street to line up the parade and may not find a place to park because it fills up really quickly on the ball field...
