I have high clestoral and the doctor told me to take fish oil to lower it. I would assum it would do the same for a dog. Leaves a nasty burpy taste I can't handle it.

I give mine a 1200mg capsule each everyday. I just toss it on top of there food and even my picky dogs eat them. They like the fishy smelly oily taste I guess. I get the big giant genaric bottle of Cod Liver Oil or just Fish Oil w/Omega from Sam's/Walmart. Lasts a long time. REALLY helps with dry skin in the winter.

I take fish oil pills to help with colesterol, it raises the good, and mine did raise after I started to take it. You can get the kind that has no after tatse. So burp away with no bad taste.

Fish oil

I give my show female 2 gelcaps a day. She has problems with allergies and it has really helped with the itching and dry skin. Her coat is shinny and last year her allergies were not as bad.

We had a dog with bad seasonal allergies that would leave big sores on her skin. She was a show dog so that wasn't good! Started giving her raw eggs and salmon oil on her food and she never did it again. Made her coat super shiny, her skin cleared up, and her feet seemed tighter as well.

Bluedogman

if you saw the benifits that fish oil doe for a dog you would change your mind that it's a waste of money the benifits far outnumber the small cost of useing it i have een puppies with severe rickets that in a week or two you would never know they ever had anything wrong if you saw the way it benifits an old dog you would be impressed my female is nine years old and runs ahead of the young dogs

Guess I shouldn't knock it if I haven't tried it. I've been lucky I suppose and never needed to use anything like that. Never had any rickets or problems like that with my mutts. Their coats looks so good now and their overall condition is so good I just don't feel I need to add anything to mine's diets. As I've said before, I feel that if you feed better dog food to begin with you don't need to add a lot to their diets unless you have some kind of health problem to contend with. I just don't have it with mine. If I did I'd probably be feeding raw eggs, salmon or whatever to try to help with it. I do know that most of those miracle things you see in health food places for people are just to satisfy the minds of the ones that believe in that kind of thing. I had a dog with a torn ligament and had to give her glucosmine every day for that and it did wonders for her for sure.

My mother in law gives it to her dogs. She started using it when she bought a pup with rickets. That pup last year was 6th over all in the AKC bench show points.
