Redbones?
What bloodlines would you recommend for a Redbone that's super fast on the track, fairly accurate, and a really loud mouth?
hey Sam when you find this red hound let me know as I want to hunt with him.
good one mtn mn
Me too lol!!!
I had two like that about 20 years ago, they were anything dogs though (run anything that came through the woods),but they would flat out blister a track and sound good doing it.They were very gamey and if someone would have trash broke them, they might have been a great coondog. One was a grade dog and the other was registered, but back then i didn't care about papers,so i never even bothered looking at them.I was thinking about trying another breed of dog and looking for some info before making a choice.
try some
Blaksely bred Red dogs, if you can find any.............the ones I had could move a cold track very well, and had big, boomin' bawl mouths...............this was a looong time ago.
It's spelled "Blakesley" and how long ago was it?

Would those hounds have had, River Chief-Billy Jo-Northern Judd-Wild River Rose-Wild River Judd-Northern Todd or Northern Suetanna in them by chance?

Chief was for sure................
really can't remember about the rest...........seems like there was a Northern Buck.??
Samhain:
Why do you want a Redbone?
Wasn't it you that stated they had been bred to show so much that was all they were good for?
Thought you didn't want a show dog???

Sorry, I just had too!! lol.

EVERYTHING happens for a reason.
Dual Grand Northern Buck was a direct son of Northern Todd. River Chief was a direct son of Wild River Rose and a litter mate to Billy Jo.
My guess would be that they were born straight or pretty easy to break, good color and did their ears hang past their eye balls?

OLD TIMER
I was thinking about getting an "off" color dog and wanted to know something about them before i chose a breed. The one's i had years ago were nice,i wouldn't mind having one just like them (except for the trash running).I was trying to avoid getting anything with a show bloodline background..lol...Did you have any luck at the Clayton hunt?
Hey old timer............
you got it............big, long legged, rangy hounds....very dark red, ears went a little past the end of their nose.........could work a cold track...............like I said in a couple other threads...........I haven't seen a red "coondawg" in years. PS--You're right again....2 were straight from birth........one had to have an attitude adjustement on bobcats/housecats.
Well,
GOT BEAT BY A REDBONE IN THE SHOW!! HA! HA!
No, wait, that was Ch of Ch Male. It was a little Walker that won Ch of Ch female of the show. Our female was WAY OUT CLASSED!!!
I won a 10 volt Bright Eyes Exterminator in the Raffle though. Only bought $5 too!!
Did OK in the hunt. Hank ended up with 375+ but didn't win our cast. A dog owned by Mac McCoy won our cast. He also won 1st place and High Scoring Dog BOTH NIGHTS!!! Had a combined total of 1250+ and won 500lbs of Diamond Dog Food. He gave Quincy 2 bags for guiding him and putting him on coons so that he could finish Bam Bam out. Mac and Quincy had a falling out, and I heard him tell a friend that he knew that Quincy was going to take him to some sucky spots to get back at their fight.
But you see, Quincy's not like that. He dosent cheat to win at anything. If Quincy took them to sucky spots, that just lessened his chances of winning too. We hit our spots just like we always do, and once again, they paid off. There has been 8 dogs finished out to NTCH on our buckets! AGAINST OUR DOGS!! That's sad.
Quincy also won enough money in a quarter poker game to win a 50lb bag of dog feed after the hunt. They auctioned it off and he got it for $7.
After I won the light, nothing else mattered to me!!

i came across this site a few months ago. Supposed to have some heavily blakesley breed dogs there
http://www.bredrightkennel.com
gr.ch.nt.ch.l&i red hot wylie old timer has hunted with this hound ask him his opinion, i'm currently hunting a 13 month old female off him right now in competition. i have pups from time to time off him, currently no one i know has any of his older pups that they want to sell.
I had a female that was out of "painters run" breeding that was everything you are looking for and more but she got hit a couple years ago and I dont know where to find this breding again, but you may look into this.
