QUESTION<Order of bench showing?

Can two walkers, showing for breed, be shown at the same time against a bluetick for best of show?

or any two or three dogs having won class showing for breed and best of show at the same time against other breeds.

I've never seen it done that way personally. Maybe the judge was just trying to save some time, but seems to me that could get a little confusing!

no

i'd have to vote no. it seems to me that the best of breeds are to be shown seperate from best of show. i agree that that could be very confusing. i've seen the judges put up say a pup and older dog for best of breed together instead of going through the individual classes but only if there is only one per class.

Each Walker dog was

A class winner I'd say. I've saw it done in this fashion before. I don't personally do it this way but have saw it done before.

take the rule book out and read the procedure

Short cuts lead to mistakes. However, I have several times seen dogs of the same breed go for best of breed at the same time since each was automaticly a class winner ( 1/class). If one breed was all you had then the breed winner would also get best of show.
Usually never put dogs of different breeds up at the same time until breed winners are picked from each breed in attendance.

I saw a judge try to do it in a similar fashion once. When I tried to politely tell him the correct procedure, he got mad. Needless to say, my dog didn't win. I know I should have filled out a complaint form but it would have made a bad situation even worse. I have never let the same guy judge my dogs again. I like to go by the writen rules.

I see it alot around here. I hate it when they show all the males first and get Best of Show male than bring the females up for Best Female of show. I like the way the rules are set up and that is the way I do it.
Lakeland Kennel, I have corrected alot of judges and you are right alot of times you will not win.(not saying I should allways winbut you know what I mean)
Had a judge try to open my dogs mouth to check teeth, I explained he could not do that I lost the show!!!

i dont see a nothing wrong with getting 3 dogs out there
bluetick wins breed, pick a walker, then show you have
stayed in order.the problem i see is the walker would
have to show twice as long as the off breed coming right
back the bluetick gets to rest.

why is following the rules so hard to understand...this is why so many people think they get cheated..

You sure do seem to take shots at the show people but yet I see you on more show threads than hunting ones.... Why is that. Are you envious of the FUFU dogs?

never seen a redbone tree..maybe you better get out more..

The procedure is there in the book. When you don't follow it you throw everybody off and their standing around waiting to show with the wrong dog in their hand and then you have to wait while some have to rush off and grab a different dog because you've changed the order you're calling the dogs. I know some are never ready any way but why make it more confusing.

I'll agree with that. A lot of times I go to the hunts alone, with 2 or 3 dogs to handle...and usually they are 2 or 3 different breeds and/or sexes. I don't always mind if the judge wants to change up the order a bit or put dogs together to save a little time, but it's nice to get a heads up if he/she is going to do so. It gets hard to run back and forth getting dogs when there is nobody there to help you!

bench show procedures

i have judged and showed for many years. probbably more than most in here are old. I follow the procedure as in the rule book. I always tell any apprentice to follow this procedure. it is how is needs to be done. i will not sign an apprentice's paper unless they know this procedure by heart. also to do the paperwork properly. i have found way to many bench show judges that do not know this system. then the show gets very confusing for all that are showing a dog. one time i had a man to apprentice under me and he could not only tell me 4 of the breeds. he did not apprentice under me that day. i told him to read the bench show rules first. but i n a month he was judging a show without being able to follow the procedure. he actually attempted to judge the best of show with 2 walker males in that class. lool what a joke and who even signed his apprentice papers. lets tighten up this mess. also if someone win at a RQE that person should not show the same dog at the next RQE. this is not fair to someone wanting a win so they also may go to show at the worlds.
