Death of a Good Hound

Had the worst of nights. My 3 yr old English male was hit on the road and killed. This dog was top notch (at least in my eyes). He had very bad luck though. Last year he climbed a tree (had the coon), then fell out. Broken front elbow, resulting in major surgery. Then this past April he ripped his ACL in the left rear leg. Another surgery. He was just recovering, and was quite strong, and then killed on the road.

I'm very sorry to hear this, Chris. ... It seems to happen to the good ones, on top of it all. I've been there, and it's tough. Again, I'm sorry.

Chris:

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's always hard to lose a dear canine friend. It sounds like your year last year was about like ours. My Rocky dog got anti-freeze poisoned and died with Kidney failure on Feb. 11. 2002. Charlie got killed by Pitt Bulls on April 6, 2002. And Bull got killed by a bear on October 9, 2002. It was not a good year for either of us, but we must look to the future, and not dwell on the past. It is really hard, but you can do it.

I know the feeling only too well Chris. My english female Gr. Ch. F Ch. Roan Mountain Dusty was hit and killed while hunting last Tuesday night. Bad week for the english dogs.
