Coon Hunt 10/26/12
The Mn. State Coon Hunters Assoc. donated a coon hunt to the MN deer hunters Assoc. Last night 3 of us took the Bid Winners on a coon hunt. Darrell and Tammie (husband and wife) were fun to hunt with and said they really enjoyed the hunt. They are bow hunters and asked many questions that we tried to answer. One thing they learned was that deer don't leave the country when we hunt, as there were deer standing around as our dogs went past them tracking coon and treeing. Hope they convey the message to other deer hunters. We treed 3 coon and they each got the chance to shoot one out. After the hunt we skinned their coon and they each took the coon they shot to have tanned. WE had a Plott, Redbone, and a Walker and they couldn't have done a better job.
Pictures to follow.

good looking plott.
He belongs to one of my hunting partners. He is the best PLOTT I've hunted with. Actually one of the best coon hounds of any breed I've hunted with.

Looks like everyone had fun Bob. Wish we could get a few more down here to go along on coon hunt so they could see the same thing for themselves. We got to prove it to a few but most have been preached to so much by deer hunters that dogs scatter deer from here to kingdom come (which is so far from the truth ) that they won't even give ya a chance to prove it.

Brought this back to the top because my hunting partner that owns the plott just stopped in on his way home from the Vet. The Vet thinks (Tack) the plott is full of cancer. Shortly after the hunt Tack got sick and started loosing weight. They put him on Antiboitics, but he wasn't getting much better. They are going to take X-rays tomorrow as he seems to have lumps in his stomach, the vet thinks. Hope they are wrong and it's something simple that can be treated.
i hate hearing that seeker,i hope he will be allright.
Update on Tack, the Plott. He was put down today by the Vet. Full of Cancer and was bleeding into his stomach. Tough on my partner. Had a young dog hit by a car last month and now losing Tack. I know our group will miss him.
iam sorry to hear that.
