WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR CIRCLE POINTS ON FINAL 4?
COULDNT FIND COON BECAUSE OF?

I'd have to say they didn't have a Sunspot light.

trees are still full of green leaves here.

Circle points are awarded when there's a part of the tree that can't be shined/searched where a coon could be hiding and not be seen.

They are here in Michigan too, but in the last week my dog has made 13 trees and other than one den, I saw a coon in the other 12 trees! I like my Sunspot, but I think if there's a coon in the tree 90% of the time you will see it.

you should have been in the world hunt.No doubt you would have won.

To many computer coonhunters on here.... This time of year around here you cant even shine half the trees because of the canopy in the woods.
My dog got split in a hunt Sat. and treed on the edge in a big maple, we shined for 8 minutes and just as i was about to give up i caught an eye, by the time i got a majority to see him we had found 3 coon in that tree.

A cyprus tree in that part of the world can be as big as a pickup at the base and 60 foot to the first limb. A coon could be on top of the first limb and you may never see it. I have seen coon walking into a tree and end up never seeing it again. Circle points are part of the 1% of the time when the coon may be their and not seen. Some folks have trouble using common sense and shouldn't engage into a discussion on the topic.

You don't minus trees in UKC from what I can tell........

In PKC either I know a dog last year that won about $400 and never was a coon plussed in a hunt.

Seen a tree circled the other night. It had been dead for probably 3 years. It was about 12 inches at base. Bark falling off and all. Not a leaf on it, a limb about the size of a match touching a small limb in another tree. 2 vote circle, 2 vote minus. Then questioned......

I would like to see the real slick trees minused too but if you dog is doing what it is suppose to you should gain at least 150 every one of them. One thing worse than a slick treeing dog is a dog that will me-too on a slick.

I think minus should be required when no coon is seen.
With that said, last year, I cut the dogs loose at a small creek in a field with some trees here and there on the creek. The dogs ran a sight race for about 50 yards and treed in a very small cedar. That tree could not have been over 25 feet tall. I could not find the coon anywhere and I have excellent eye sight. Went on hunting for about an hour and a half and got back to the truck, shined across the field to that cedar and the coon was looking dead at me. Started walking to the tree, and I knew almost exactly where in that tree the coon was, and when he stopped looking, I never saw him again!
