Prizes for wins??

What yall think would be the best things to give away this day and age? Weve gave trophys, dog food, shirts and hats. I think clubs still need to give something besides a yellow slip of paper. We are running outta ideas. Lets have some.

That's a hell of a good idea.

I've always hated the dog food, understand from sponsors, but I won't feed my dogs the crap that sponsors donate.

Trophies I think are cool the first year or for kids. I've donated a lot of trophies and medallions back to the clubs over the years. I like the plaques better (easier to store and hang) and have kept most all of them. Ribbons are about worthless.

Coffee mugs with club logos, shirts, jackets I like if classy and personalized to the clubs.

Art, that seems to be a hit. Coonhound art, carved antlers, etc may be hard to come by without donations, but a lot of people like those.

I really like clubs that put effort to be classy and have something nice for overall winners, even if I don't win, rather than spent to get everybody something tacky or useless.

NICE collars/leads, shock collars, roll cages, tuft foot, a NICE first aid kit are probably the things I like to win the most. Stuff that can be used. I know a lot of people that really liked snazzy leather leads (seen them braided out of kangaroo and deer/elk).

In this day and age gas cards, gift certificates, and cash is probably more appreciated. Especially if it is from a national corp or cash. It is kind of wasteful to drive 600 miles to an event and win a dinner for two at a place that is 20 miles the opposite direction as home. Locals may frequent the area, but those who travel don't.

A little help for gas does go a long ways! That is something I haven't won or seen offered around these parts. Maybe if you can get a local motel to donate a couple one night gift certificates if your hunts are such where people have to travel. (I'd definitely come back to support a club if I won a free night stay! Just one night break in hotel fee is a huge bonus for those who have to travel)

Just some ideas.

There is one club around here that gives out framed pictures of the dog with the date on it. That is a nice change of pace and not too expensive. They make them on a picture quality printer from their computer.

I always thought it would be a good idea to give cast winners or high scoring open and Nt. Ch. a non transferrable free entry at our next hunt. Any more, most folks don't drive alone and it might encourage participation and help numbers.

nice to hear some clubs are sticking with prizes...some clubs around here have 15$ poor boy hunts...

i agree with the dog food...i would just donate it back to the club and let em keep it unless its what i actually feed..i understand the dog feed was likely donated to the club in the first place..and some guys might feed whatever they can especially if its free...

gas cards would be awesome...even if its $5..

and other things that hunters are likely to use...i like the idea of "doggie first aid" stuff.....decent collars/leads..always nice to have an extra laying around..

free entry to the next event at the club would be nice..probably have to put a price limit on it so it cant be used at a RQE or bigger events unless that doesnt matter to the club...

trophies and plaques are nice...especially for new comers...but, end up as dust collectors..some guys collect them...maybe keep trophies on hand and give an option to the other stuff? that'd be a nice way to give everyone an option...and most trophies have generic engraving "1st place nite champion" or "2nd place registered" etc..so wouldnt be a huge deal to keep a supply on hand...

bigger hunts with bigger prizes, i like nicely done jackets...one club does a Carharrt and embroiders the back all up nice and puts the hunters name on it etc for the overall winner...real nice jacket..

That idea right there is the cream of the crop.

around here about all clubs are poor boys . i dont really care poor boy or not but give the high scoring dogs something , maybe a collar , lead , whatever . most dog feed thats giving out is feeder food but id take it . alittle incentitive goes along way , go to a club that gives something out to high scoring dogs apposed to a poor boy event . most poor boy hunts around here draw 10 dogs maybe , club attendances are down from what i hear everywhere .club leaders need to get with members and kick ideas around so attendances start to come back .
