BAD AS IT'S BEEN

I DON'T KNOW THE TOTAL NUMBER OF DEATHS CAUSED BY THIS FLOOD. I KNOW OF 3 OUR ASSISTANT STATES ATTORNEY WAS ELECTRICUTED IN HIS BASEMENT TRYING TO SAVE THINGS FROM THE FLOOD. ONE MAN DROWNED IN HIS CAR IN APPLE RIVER. 85 YR OLD MAN AND WOMAN WERE SWEPT AWAY ON LONG HOLLOW JUST SOUTH OF GALENA. THE MAN SURVIVED AND WAS FOUND CLINGING TO SOME TREES IN THE FLOOD WATERS, HIS WIFE'S BODY WAS FOUND THIS AM. MY AUNT AND UNCLE HAD TO BE RESCUEED BY BOAT AT 10:30 THURSDAY NIGHT AND HAVE LOST EVERYTHING. THEY LIVE A QUARTER MILE DOWN THE CREEK FROM MY MOM AND DAD. THE RAILROAD HAS BEEN CLEANING UP A 35 CAR DERAILMENT OF COAL CARS AT BLANDING'S LANDING, THEY HAVE BEEN NON STOP SINCE THURSDAY NIGHT. THE TRACK BED IS WASHED OUT FOR A COUPLE MILE'S UP CLOSE TO THE AKIN BOTTOM'S LIKE SHOWN IN THE PHOTO ABOVE. DUBUQUE IOWA, EAST DUBUQUE IL, GALENA, IL. AND HANOVER IL. TOOK ON MORE WATER BY FAR THEN LAST YEAR. IT WAS WITHIN 4 DAYS OF THE FLOOD LAST YEAR, AND LAST YEAR WE GOT HIT AGAIN 2 WEEKS FROM THE FIRST ONE. BLACKTOP ROADS WERE LIFTED UP AND SET OFF IN THE FIELDS, CARS WASHED AWAY, THERE ARE 2 MOBLE HOMES IN THE LITTLE TOWN OF RODDEN JUST OVER THE RIDGE FROM MY FOLKS AND AUNT AND UNCLE'S PLACE THAT BROKE LOOSE AND FLOATED OFF. THE GUY THAT LIVES IN THE ONE BARELY ESCAPED WITH HIS LIFE. HE WAS WASHED DOWN A QUARTER MILE STRETCH BEFORE HE GOT AHOLD OF SOMETHING TO HANG ONTO THAT DIDN'T LET GO. WE HAD 15 INCHES OF RAIN TOTAL. I EMPTIED MY RAIN GAGE AND WATCHED IT FILL TO 5 INCHES IN 55 MINUTES. HOPE WE DON'T GET ANOTHER HELLER THIS YEAR 2WKS AFTER THE FIRST ONE LIKE WE DID LAST YEAR. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE FOLKS THAT LOST SO MUCH. <v>

APPLE RIVER

IS WHAT MOST OF THESE PHOTO'S ARE OF. A TRIBUTARY OFF THE MISSISSIPPI. THE AMOUNT OF RAIN THAT CAME IN A FEW HOURS MADE WATER WAYS WHERE THERE WERE NONE. BELOW ARE SOME PHOTO'S OF WHERE THE WATER CAME OFF THE BLUFF'S AROUND HERE. ANY SMALL CREEK OR RIVER HERE BECAME A MAJOR THREAT IN THIS STORM. <v>

Perry

We're praying for you, and everybody else over that way. Mother nature sure has been flexing her muscles here lately.

FLOOD WATERS

PERRY, I HAD KNOW IDEA YOU WERE DEALING WITH THIS EXTREME FLOODING. MOTHER NATURE IS AN INCREDIBLE FORCE THAT WAITS AROUND FOR NO ONE. WHEN YOU DEAL WITH THESE LARGE AMOUNTS OF RAIN IN THAT SHORT OF TIME FRAME, THINGS CAN TURN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN A HURRY. IT WILL SURE CHANGE THE LANDSCAPE OF THINGS. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE ONES WHO HAVE BEEN EFFECTED BY THIS DEVASTATION. I AM RELIEVED TO HEAR THAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE ALRIGHT. TAKE CARE.

DONNY WALSTON

MORE RAIN

97 DEGREES HERE AND THEY ARE SAYING WE COULD BE LOOKIN AT ANOTHER BIG RAIN. WE NEED A NICE SHOWER TO GET THE MUD OFF THE CROPS THAT STILL MAY HAVE A CHANCE. HUNDREDS OF ACRES AROUND HERE THAT LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN RUN DOWN BY A STEAM ROLLER. NOT MUCH HOPE FOR THOSE. <v>

The washed out & suspended in mid air tracks really put it into perspective for me."WOW"! Where was that at?

Thats crazy!

Ma Nature is p!$$ed & she's been on a mission for a few years now 2 let us know it. I beleive most everybody is aware of it in the whole world it seem's?

Truly some devasting stuff been goin on & no one location is immune to it.

Happy ya'll are alrite & up in the air enough to be safe from that. Maybe get'ta buildin an ark in the back of the school house just for in case? May need it?
